I mixed 1/2gal(64oz) powermaster YS 20/20 fuel, with 1/2gal(64oz)powermaster Heli fuel 30% nitro, so I'm tring to figure what oil% and Nitro % I have now. any Ideas?

Heli fuel = 30% nitro, 23% Oil, 47% alcohol
(I'am asuming) YS 20/20 is, = 20% nitro, 20% oil and 60% alcohol

Engines run pretty good with this mix. BUT Duh fer me??????

Approximately
25% Nitro, 22% oil (Some of which is probably castor but either way - it is a blend of oils now) 53% alcohol

Adding 64 oz of 20%nitro, 20% oil fuel to 64 oz of 30% nitro, 23% oil fuel will give you 128 oz of 25% nitro, 21.5% oil fuel. If you have MS Excel I can e-mail you an Excel spreadsheet that I wrote that will do that and several other fuel related calculations. If not, the math is not that hard. Just calculate the number of ounces of nitro in each fuel and add them together to get the total number of ounces nitro in the mixture, and then do the same for the oil. To get the final percentages, divide the total number of ounces of nitro in the mixture by the total number of ounces of fuel in the mixture to get the percentage of nitro, and do likewise to get the percentage of oil. (If you are adding equal amounts of fuel together, as you did, then the calculation is simpler; just averaged the percentages of the components. The average of 20% and 30% nitro is 25% nitro, and the average of 20% and 23% oil is 21.5% oil.)

Because you mixed equal amounts of each fuel, all you have to do is add the precentages together and divide by 2. We don't need no steenkin' spreadsheet.

I figured that out x2 thing. BUT that spread sheet is a nice program, does much more than just this. Nice work on the spread sheet hauckf.

Suppose you have some 40% nitro and some 5% nitro fuel and you want to mix them to make 10%. What ratio of 5% do you add to the 40%? You have an amount of 40%. This amount of 40% contains 10% plus some more nitro. To get 10% nitro out of 5% you need another 5%. In the 40 % there is 10% plus 30% excess. So there are enough excess 5%'s (30/5) to match up to six 5%'s. So you need to mix six units of 5% with one unit of 40% to get seven units of 10%. The mixing ratio is 6:1. Try it with 100ml units.

General formula:
H = high nitro %
D = desired nitro %
L = low nitro %

Ratio is 1 high nitro to (H-D)/(D-L)low nitro.

Yea we figured that out

But thank you for the reply. I use Powermaster fuels in all my R/C Nitro toys and am very pleased with it.
