i just got the imaxb8 charger, i tried to use it with my power converter from my hobbico accu cycle, says it puts out 14.5v and 2.5 amps, well the imax gives me a low volt input warning and wont work, the manual says 11-18 volts but nothing about amps, when i hook up to my 12v battery in my field box it works like a charm, is there something wrong somewhere? is it the 2.5 amps? what kind of inverter would i need to run this thing at home? i see ones from places like jc whitney that are ajustable, any info would be apprectiated, thanks

This is a 7A charger, the input power supply should be at least 12V 7A, 10A will be better.

forgot to ask, could there be too much amps?? i looked at one that was 18 amps, another that was 36 amps, would they be more effecient or just wasted amps? possibly damaging? the one from astroflight is 12.5 amps i believe for $65, that may be perfect right? so i can take full advantage of the charger but not be overkill??

No such thing as too much amps but anything over 10A is a wasted amps for this charger. 12.5A is not over killed but, to my wallet, $65 is.

thanks alot for the info, i splurged and got this one, 15amps, maybe i can find more uses for it, plus i saw somewhere else that triton charger reccommended a 10amp but for 8cells get the 15amp, so i figure this one will do everything i need and then some, kind grow with it, haha...have to justify the $ somehow in my mind

SO, has anybody with this charger encountered the unit overheat message? I saw on united hobbies that one post said he had to open it up and "insulate" the iron bar. I'm not quite sure what to do on that process. any comments?

i havent had any issues with mine yet, works like a charm, starting to get warm here too as far as ambient temperature, so when it gets hot at the field and i am charging something, that should be a good test
