ORIGINAL: JoeAverage I will try to clarify my remarks. By tapered strips I meant the laminating strips shown on the plan for each tip. They are dimensioned that way on the plan. If made a constant width like the similar ones in the second photo, they could be made from the same form ensuring the same shape. As they are shown, the builder has to make a laminating set-up at each tip. The pair shown for a 21" cord and must be tapered down at the Trailing Edge on either side and made on a single former and therefore identical. I mentioned the stringers when discussing detail. I had forgotten that the plans show an external framework and the front is sheeted and scalloped as the Waco Factory Drawings shown in the side view. I plan on adding to this illustrated framework on the exterior to make it more realistic. The external framework shown leaves much to be desired but if done nicely I am beginning to think that sheeting the wings may be an real option. I am making 3 of these. If it too heavy sheeted then I'll hang it in the rafters. If one used light balsa and a light fabric to cover it then it may be very possible. I have not used that ply to sheet a wing so I can't comment on it. As I failed at explaining an alternative method to the copiously time consuming method I generally employ, and seldomly use for a single model, I will try to produce a photo of the alternative method this weekend. Thanks, I appreciate your efforts for me. Howcome you're making three? Do you build to sell? Hope you don't mind me asking...
