you can try that with the wire, the recievers are wired to a certain length according to the frequency but it cant hurt to try, just do a dry test before you actually start and drive it with the new wire.

yeah that is what I will do. The antenna that was on there actually got broke off at the end of the tube so it is shorter than normal to begin with.

Hey ehroof. I got a question for you from my dad. He is now a proud Redcat owner, and he got one with an FM transmitter. He is having trouble figuring it out. He says that as long as the car is not running everything works fine, but then when he starts the car, everything goes crazy. He is going to put new batteries in everything and see if that works, but he says the batteries that are in there now have only been in there for 2 days and since then he has only driven the car long enough to do the brake in.

tell him to check the antenna wire is not touching any metal, sometimes it can cause it to glitch.

I let him know that. I am thinking it is just the batteries. He said that while the car is off everything works, but then when he starts it, the servos will twitch for a couple of seconds, then stop, and then he has no control of anything. I told him that is what mine did when my batteries went dead.

ok so I go out and run my buggy today at the local park. Wish I could have had someone to video tape for me. Anyway, got some good speed, some good air, and good run time. Unfortunately for me...I broke the wheel that was glued together(not a big deal), put the new ones on I had and went back to running and I think I broke the clutch spring. Car will start and run, but will not move. I am going to tear it apart sometime this week and find out exactly what I did and get my replacement parts ordered. I am also thinking about getting a 1/8 buggy. What do you recommend?

i like the hurricane, its a great buggy, for all out bashing fun and dependability, get the avalanche. Sounds like you stripped the spur gear or you need to tighten your drive cup grub screws, the ones from the trans to the rear and front diff.

I am really lazy. I know that I need to check what is with my car. But I am too busy on here looking around instead of tearing my car a part. Is this a bad thing?

By the way, that is my dad. He finally decided to become part of the real RC world. Too bad his non-Redcat car will never beat mine. ha ha... and we will see what happens when I get my Monsoon.

you know. You seem to have the same issues. Don't you worry. One of these days we will run. As soon as the snow melts, you better get busy building that track.

OK, I got my front wheels in today, so now I am good to go on wheels. I have my car torn apart and trying to see what is wrong. The grub screws were as tight as they could go, so I left them alone. The spur gears are not stripped either. Everything looks good. Not sure what the issue is. Seems rather weird to me. Well, getting late and I need to head to bed. I will check back tomorrow and see what everyone has said, and see if I can figure it out.

Won't be a test but to teach him a thing or 2. He thinks this old man can't drive but I have been practicing in the back yard on the good days and have learned a few tricks besides just wide open!!

Thanks for the help. I started with steps by checking the antenna and so forth. It was actually a plug to the receiver that wasn't seated completed. Everything is working fine now. Thanks for the help.

OK, I pulled my car completely apart, and did not notice anything out of whack, or broken. So I put my car back together, checked everything on it, and it looked good so I fired it up. At first the transmission wouldn't spin at all. I looked at the bell housing and noticed it wasn't spinning. I gave it a little gas one more time to check, and out pops a little rock and the clutch engaged and everything was good. Kind weird because it seems all that was stopping it was a rock inside the clutch and after it popped out everything was fine. Pulled the bell housing off and checked everything out, and it is all good. Nothing is wrong with it at all. So now I am good to go. Probably won't get to drive this week anytime, since we got some good snow last week, and it is still lingering around. Just wanted to let everyone know where I was at with it.
