Snaut, if this truck performs, and its durable, it may become my #1 race truck. Sounds crazy to some, im sure. But from a racers point of view, this truck has it all. Im eager to get this thing started, and on the track. The components on this truck sit soooo low in the chassis, it should handle high speed corners incredibly well. Cant wait to test it. [:D]

We will certainly see. I really like the steps Duratrax has made with this truck. Even if it needs work in some areas, i plan on sticking with it. Duratrax is one of the few companies to acknowledge the MT fans demand for race ready trucks, so i plan to help support them.

No, not real heavy. They are about like a standard crime fighter MT tire. But softer. I plan to put some switches on here for the indoor track.

Thermal, got the same color as you!! I didnt set a preference at Tower and thats what they sent, kinda shocked me actually as they usually tend to send me the ONE which I really DONT want; but not this time!!LOL It wont be staying on there long anyways!


As for the header, yeah I realized that last night. Gonna see exactly how much dremeling it will take before I actually hack away.


The CEN shocks arent exactly working w/ me at this point, might try another route but definetly gonna try to get a four shock set up on there!!

Oh and for whos interested I just (literally!) purchased a Dynamite Mach .28 for this thing, couldnt pass it for the price plus its bumpstart only!!


I will hit the diffs this weekend as it looks as though there is more snow on the way![&o]

Very cool, sikntired. You ever thought about just using 4 of the stock shocks, with heavier springs and oil?

Yeah was thinking I might have to do that anyways! The thickness of the shock tower where the shocks mount is posing a problem for both shocks I have tried (CEN, aftershock).

Due to wieght if I stay w/ stock im thinking 60wt all around w/ some type of stiffer spring, not quite sure which will fit as of yet!!

And man whats up w/ the snow!!!!

Also wanted to post that I believe I have found a (non-mod) solution to the whole header/pipe issue!

Both STS and SH make tuned pipes w/ the same bend in it as the stock header!!

They have them in high tourque, Max tourque and high speed.

Not that badly priced either, the only downside is they are coming from Hong Kong!!

Yeah the one was on there for a minute!!LOL


I picked up a NIB roller from LHS owner, had arrived damaged and gave me a GOOD deal on it and figured Id off the RTR one. But decided to just keep them both leave the one stock and start ripping into the other one!!

The one I just picked up had no body, engine, wheels/tires, rotostart or radio. THe handle is pretty bent, concaved perfectly center but nothing else seems to be damaged. He kept all the above items and made me a deal I couldnt pass up!![;)]

If we ever get out of winter Im going to break in the one, already started tearing the other apart!!

Found some 50wt shock oil gonna try that w/ the four stock shocks and try matching me up some springs here in a little while!!

Thermal, I imagine you might have a LST racer body laying around if so would you mind seeing how (or if) it would fit on this thing!?

Heres a pic of the RTX with the LST racer body sitting on it. The rear body posts absolutely dont line up with anything good. They are going right up into the roll bar/ number plate area of this body. It would take some custom work to get that to fit. The front is a much better fit, but not ideal. Its lined up at the edge of the humps in the hood. So you may end up bending the front posts a bit, to get a good fit. If there were some straight body posts you could stick in the RTX post holes, that might work better. You also would have to cut the fuel tank access out of the rear of this body. It has a huge dip in it, that hits the bod post area.

This truck looks to be alot better than the WH, which I used to own. I did all the upgrades to it before they were even out. I installed foc shaft(which a friend made for me) went with a 4 shock set up, harder springs and thicker oil. changed the cvd pins to a harden pins, steering mod(which is now the race steering set up) servos and tx,rx.

If duratrax took care of the durability issues with the truck it should be a winner. The truck handles like no other, as long as it can hold up to racing.

Heres a pic of my WH when I had it the way I wanted it, and before I sold it.

86, thats a nice warhead. What were the issues you had with your truck? Just so i can keep my eyes peeled, or maybe avoid them, by hopping it up. Or atleast get some spares. [:D]

Thanks Thermal, since the new truck doesn't have the crappy soft reverse gears in the trans, I would look at the 2 speed idler gear pin. Replace it with a harden one, also look at the cvd shafts. The pins on both sides wear really fast and will break when you least expect it. The cvd shafts themselves seem like a softer metal and get preety torn up on the universal side. The part I broke the most was the body mounts, I broke 3 in one day.

The main problem I had with the truck was I always had a low tank lean issue even with three different engines. I look over the warhead thread and some still seem to have this problem, and some don't. I did mount a 125cc buggy tank to the truck and it worked alot better but, it wasn't protected right and ended leaking.

I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that I can use the Warhead EVO screw kit for this thing, correct?

86, when you cut away the bottom section of the shock tower did you notice any added flex from it or was it still pretty solid?

I would say yes to the screw kit, from what I've seen it has the same lay out.

I didn't notice any added flex to the shock towers after removing half of it. If the shock towers are still the same as I'm assuming the mounting block is attached at the top, and the material that you will remove will not be a factor. Besides the half that will be removed is to make adjustments for rumble mode(lifted mode).

Keep the updates coming and how the truck is working out.

just a heads up from a warhead evo owner the cvds will wear faster if the truck is in rumble mode because of the extreme angle it puts the shafts at, so keep it at the stock level or lower if you dont want to replace the cvds every 4-5 runs.

Just an update. I have installed a Team Orion RX pack, an Spektrum micro RX, a JR switch harness, a JR 9100T on steering, and i've started break in today. The .27 seems very easy to tune, and seems to run really well soo far. I'll keep ya posted. If all goes well, it'll be on the track this Sunday! [:D]

great i hope its better than the evo motor lol. keep us up to date on the engine especially. i liked my old evo just hated the motor
