Well, im back from the race. Im very pleased to say the track review of this truck went better than expected. I mean i expected it to do pretty good overall, but not like this. After i got it fired up, i had to tune the motor a bit. First off, the motor tunes VERY easy. It still feels really held back though, and underpowered on the bottom. It actually feels like it has a bog at mid range. I did feel like the truck was waking up more, as i drove it more. I temp'd it at 259 on my gun, which is around 200 on the average temp gun. Regardless, i found that leaning the engine really only provided a lean situation. I feel the truck is tuned properly. So for the engine, i still have to give it a thumbs up! It breaks in very easy, and tunes very easy. Was also plenty enough to make the jumps at the track, and turn clean laps. Now for the track review. Which to be honest, was all i cared about. I dont focus, or base my overall opinions of my trucks, on the RTR motors they come with. Lets face it, any motor, stock or not, wont last forever. So i look for the future of the truck, in my review. So i put it down on the track, and found the truck would track incredibly straight, and held its balance at speed very well. At the end of the high speed straight, i found the first turn, and the rest of the infield an absolute breeeze to navigate. The truck does not appear to body roll at all. The truck also steers better than my race/track tuned LST2, as well as my Revo. Very impressed there! I quickly found the truck jumped incredibly level, and soaked up all the jumps. Then i was incredibly shocked when i blew thru the whooops section, that was killllling me all day with my LST2. I continued to run that tank dry, with one thing on my mind for the review... They just wont believe it, until they see it. Keep in mind, i ran this truck with stock motor, exhaust, stock TIRES, stock shock oil. I changed my ride height, adjusted slipper, did my diffs, and made sure everything had loctite. As well as the addition of my JR steering servo, and the Spektrum micro RX, and a battery pack. All the basicas, for any vehicle before i attempt a race, or even a run with it really. At this point, the truck has surpassed my expectations. I'll be getting any hop ups i want, and stocking spares, and buying the optional tuning springs. While its way too early to tell how durable it is, i do know it handles our tight indoor track incredibly well. Im looking forward to racing it. As much as i'd like to run this stock motor some more, to see if it really wakes up, i just cant. I need more motor to stay on the podium with the Bat, and Binary. I hate to give early reccomendations on any of my trucks i buy, but this one i feel deserves it. Duratrax took the time to cater to the MT race fans, and they put a package together thats very affordable. If anyone has any interest in this truck, i say take the plunge. Im looking forward to having my personal transponder in it next race, and a much bigger motor. Very pleased!!!

Oh, and one last thing. Someone asked about the differences between the warhead and the RTX. Well, here are a few i know of.

- RTX has a forward only
- RTX has a beefed up tranny and the hard steel clutch bell
- RTX has the race legal fuel tank
- RTX comes stock with 8mm stub axles, and 17mm hubs ( niiiiiiiiiiiiice)
- RTX has the race steering kit already installed

Other than that, i believe the EVO had the beefed up bulkheads. But i really cant be sure. I've only owned this EVO, that looks like its gonna see the track alot more often.

Any questions, feel free to ask!

I have some options already here. I have a V-spec, already broken in, thats just sitting here. I could toss that in real quick. But i also have a Dynamite platinum .28 here new, and a new LRP .28 spec 3. Im likely going to put this LRP .28 in here, and if i like it, i'll put this one in my LST2, and buy another truggy version LRP .28 for the RTX. Atleast thats the current plan.

now just wondering i see were some ppl say the rtx has a different motor than the evo. i was looking on tower and reading on this truck and it says it has a G-27CS right? or is it a misprint? anyways i was at a bodies house today after we got done running our trucks and (i sold him my evo that i had) looking at the truck it has the same motor listed as the rtx (G-27CS) not cx as some has stated the evo had. so if this is right then they are the same motor

Dont get a warhead part of all the tranny problems we had with the warhead was because of the reverse add more weight to the tranny gears making it slower and wearing parts in the tranny faster (aka oneway bearing and top shaft pins). Sure its an inconvience not to have it but it will reward you with much better reliablity.

Mess,

I have this Venom Fail Safe.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=++&FVSEARCH=vnrm0620
A lot of guys refer to the high temp fail safe but this one connects to the throttle servo and will close the throttle servo when you lose signal.
Early Warheads had a problem with runaways so I got one even before I ran my truck the first time.
I have not had any problems. I did replace the original radio with a Futaba 3PM-FM, much better than stock.

Later,
Kermit

Superchargers are a waste of time and money. They dont work and you will even end up burning up the engine. But hey good luck with that one.
