Questions for you guys. Havent had time to fool around w/ the truck for awhile and started to last night. Was trying a few things and noticed that the rear drives shaft has NO play back and forth while the front seems fine!!?? I have an RTR on but its all packed up and dont really feel like unpacking it just to check!
Once I get the shaft problem worked out I will hopefully be testing it sometime this week!!!!

On a side note anyone looking for a great deal on one of these hit me up, got a BRAND NEW RTR one sitting here wanting a new home give someone a heck of a deal on it!!!!!!!

Sorry for the lack of update Rob. I cant get to the races tomorrow, and next weekt hey have a big electric race. So i''ll likely get back to the track the week after. But if the weather picks up this week, i''ll be running it some more in the yard. But i really wanna get it on the track again.

i understand....that stinks for ya though. i wasnt being pushy and i dont think you took it that way but you know how these keyboards make ya sound sometimes..

I have owned one of these for a few weeks now. Maye almost a month. Honestly its my first nitro probally since I was 12 yrs old (use to play w/ my uncles grasshopper back then lol), I'm soon to be 31. Anyways.. I've probally ran about hmm a gal through it so far. Only problem is that when I was in test mode. My tank appeared feathery when taken out of the box during inspection at the seal/ridge of the tank. So obviously it was going to go bad sooner or later. And it has. But considering that, and I've not done any up grades. Other then your average maintance and pre trip inspection (if you want to call it that) lube'n, and etc that is done prior to test runs. I can say I am still very happy w/ this truck. I have bashed the heck out of this thing. And still nothing has broken. (even aquired a dent cuz over throttled in the air once lol) {but I'm getting better at manipulating airiel roll}. With each new tank that goes through the engine. I notice there is a little more speed/power. (I've found 4 2/3 turns to be the sweet spot for my truck) So for what its worth thats my what my opinion is.. Figured before I baught something, I need something that could with stand a beating. Something that was somewhat easy to work on. And something that was not going to spend more time sitting then driving. So far, all my exspectations have been met.

Though I'll take back what I said in the above. I have added a inline fuel filter. So theres a slight upgrade lol..

Word of advice to anyone that buys one of these. Do a pre trip inspection prior to driving it. And make sure all the bolts, screws and nuts are TIGHT. Cuz if I wouldn't have my tranny and my wheels may of fallen off in my first test run.

The old Warhead engine was a G27CX and the new one is G27CS. I suppose that makes a big difference idk. Well, I guess 3rd try is a charm.

From what I have read, heard, etc. Even though I'm a super noob lol.. Is that Duratrax has listened to they're customers. And have added some / most of the components that people were wanting.  Some of the posts here in this topic are better detailed then probally what I could describe. Check them out. I've heard many say that this vehicle is better then the Warheads, as in how it comes out of the box. I can't say race wise only cuz like I said. I'm super noob. And your driving skills would probally destroy my driving skills regardless of the vehicle used lol..

sikn ~ I don't know if your refering to when the vehicle is "parked" and turned "off", or when idling. However right now as parked, i have any play in both drive shafts. As "parked" and off each moves maybe hmm about 1/8 of a inch in either direction from center. So hopefully this helps ya.

It looks like its a bit too little, too late. Everyone familiar with MT knows that the RX27 is essentially a Warhead, and the very mention of Warhead gets about a positive of a response as Ebola virus.
Too bad, because I love my Warhead.........most days I prefer it over my MGT 8.0

xraycer71 - So taking the current RT-X, would you recommend it to someone? I'm looking for my first MT (my previous trucks have been stadium trucks: Evader and RC10GT). In your opinion, does this hold up comparably to the MGT/Revo/Savage? I just want it to be in the ballpark.. the evader wasn't even close in stock form.

My friend has one and his boy beats it up pretty good..the motor runs strong( for a super tiger, heard it is a differnt model than the Warhead of past thank god!) AFA comparison to HPI Savage, T-Maxx, Revo every one of these have their "quirks" but it's a hobby that takes patience and learning..read reviews and you'll find what you want most out of them allLaterMess

I actually disagree. Reviews measure performance, adjustability (is that a word?), etc. They simply do not review long enough to measure durability. One good example is the Nitro Evader. That truck received very good reviews across the board when it released. The actual real-world opinion of the truck however is quite different. I am not making that mistake again.

I have all that you listed and would not trade any of them. But what I found to be the most durable is the savage. I love my warhead but it took a lot of work to get it perfect. The revo and t-maxx are great trucks but I know my buddy went threw a lot of suspension parts and engines. The warhead had a lot of problems but I think they have fix most of the issues. The warhead and savage are built very strong but I would say the savage plastic is stronger. But you do get the one year warranty with the warhead on the plastic parts. So that’s my two cents I hope it helps. And let us know what you get.

Maybe so. But me being super noob. Before I baught my rt - x27 i did more research then I care to comment on. Though maybe im just a rc junky now? lol.. Anyways, everyone has they're own favorites. If I could go back to before i was a teenager long ago. I'd probally spy tech my uncle to see what he did with that old Grasshopper.

I know the rt -x has some parts that don't come on the warhead. Not saying this or that vehicle is better or worse cuz there are still areas of each that are similar. Just saying from my point of view as a "very new novice to rc" that for me. It was a great choice. I'm usually the guy that can perfect something to a science eventually, yet still manages to push the limits beyond pushing the limits and then ka-plunk lol. So for this thing to still be running like a mad machine, its probally the best money I have spent in a very long time. (just don't repeat that to my girlfriend) lol..

Just wish i could find a clear body that I want lol.. I know theres tons of bodies out there. Just can't seem to find what I'm looking for though

I'm not seeing/hearing a lot of problems with the RTX27 and I love my WH, so sure I would recommend it. Honestly, I got the WH just because I liked how it looked, like a MT and not a truggy. I didn't really care too much on things like: how it performed on the tracks or if it was blistering fast. As it turns out, the WH handles very well and can take a bit of a licking. Owning the MGT, I would also recommend the MGT, not a great handler, but its tough, fast, easy to work on, and BIG. I've never had the chance to run a Revo or Savage, but you can clearly see they have a ton of happy owners. I would say just get the truck that most appeal to you and what you're looking to do with it.

The RTX/WH looks great naked and most of the internals are well protected, so I prefer to run it commando

Think I may go with a HPI Ford F-150 body. Just really unsure, heck i may get 2 bodies lol.. One for bashing and one for "show time" lol.. The other one would probally be a Parma School Bus body that I would probally use as the "main" bashing body. The stock body is alright, don't get me wrong. But we all know we all have our favorite "bashing and show off" bodies that we would perfer to have instead lol.. May even paint the bus bright pink. Cuz I figure the school bus alone would bring out some comments from some people/buddies/etc, why not just take it to the extreme lol.. And there is honestly nothing like being teased and then winning and rubbing it in they're faces lol..

I bought one of these from my LHS about a month ago. I like it but I've also had ALOT of problems. The roto start stripped the spur gear RIGHT OFF THE BAT first push of the button. I repaired that (at my expense) and then had a heck of a time getting that POS engine started. After break in it runs fine for about half a tank and then just dies and wont start back until it sits and cools. I have it set rich and it still runs hot. I'm working out of town dring the week so I only have the weekend to work with it. After reading bad reviews of the superKitty engine I have an Axial .32 on the way. The receiver went bad after 4-5 runs. The truck IS tough though. I'm notoriously rough on stuff and can break an anvil.
I'm fairly new to nitro trucks someone PLEASE tell me the Axial .32 was a good choice for this truck....
I would recommend this truck especially for the $329 I got it for new. I have had to put more money in it but I can't help but believe i'm just good at breaking stuff

I put an axial 32 in my warhead which is the same truck and it flies with it in. I have pulled wheelies when I ran aluminum shoes with the axial engine. But I went back to the savage ones after I tore up the aluminum ones. I have 2 warheads and one is stock and the other is modded up. I replace the the warhead engine in the truck with and old duratrax raze engine I had kicking around and it works great in it. It is the same supper pooper but with and sg shaft. Tuning is the key to the super pooper. I run 20% with it. Make sure your fuel cap is sealing well. There are two screws under the cap that compress the oring gasket. Make sure the oring is centered and you can tighten the two screws a little to get a little more compression on the oring. Also did you put a fuel filter on the truck. It is a must to put on because there is no filter in the tank. Dirt will get in the carb without it.

When I first got my rt - x 27, I think like most brand new nitro rc's patients is a virtue.. Im pretty new to rc and stuff as well. Because of so I kept flooding my engine lol.. Which caused the starting possibility to become tight, and harder to turn. I know if I would have been using a drill, then it may of been possible that I would have stripped it as well. Not saying that you did or didn't do this. "Supposably" these are two different engines between the warhead and the rt - x27, different names.. Though I can see that its possibly that its just a different name due to the difference between a Yukon and a Tahoe is basically the name on the vehicle for example, so to me that part is slightly confusing. I do know how ever after the initial inspection of the vehicle when out of box. The tighting of a couple loose pieces and getting pass the flooding. And after the breaking in period. That my rt -x27 runs balls to the wall now (stock for the most part w/ a inline fuel filter). And each new tank that goes through my vehicle I see a power improvement. So this leads me to think either I'm one of the few lucky ones. Or maybe you recieved a lemon?

As for you breaking stuff. Well I think we're both in the same boat on that one lol.. Or maybe I like to think that I am. I haven't done any intentional damage to my MT (ie: took wire cutters to the servo and etc) but I have drove it hard and bashed it harder. And to be honest I just can't seem to break this thing as you could possibly break other name brands in daily bashing routines. But I will say I haven't seen my truck do any wheelies from level ground.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to install a fuel filter with the .32 I didn't have one with the stick .27. I am seeing tiny air bubbles in the fuel line so I'm thinking that maybe why the .27 was stalling after awhile.

Now I received a brand new Axial .32 in the mail yesterday (Sat) I ordered and payed for this thing Wed night about 8pm! So I'm working on installing it now. I have another dumb newb question. The .27 has a short shaft basically a nub and the .32 has a long shaft (WITH A COLLET INSTALLED What is the best way to fit the clutch assembly to the Axials long shaft.

Scratch that last post. This engine is installed and I'm in the process of breaking it in. It started right up and the temp is between 200-210 after a tank of easy driving. I can already tell that this thing is gonna scream. Also the .27 has very little compression and I bet I haven't gotten 1/4 gallon through it. What a POS...
Well time for tank #3!!!

The .27 has a short shaft basically a nub and the .32 has a long shaft (WITH A COLLET INSTALLED What is the best way to fit the clutch assembly to the Axials long shaft.

Use the collet and the flywheel off the rtx and you will need an ofna shim kit to set the spacing. You will need to remove a little of the pastic from the transmission support so the screw on the end of the sg shaft does not hit. But check for clearance first. The ofna shim kit I used is part number 10099 and I used a duratrax raze sg nut part number DTXC4134 and I use a set of non flange clutch bell bearings.

ok so i picked up an rtx-27 (my 7th nitro including a couple customs) and it seems like an ok truck...nothing special but ok....it grinds to a stop since the 3rd tank...im guessing its one of the diffs out already....also has a hard time commin back down to an idle from WOT(screems for a couple seconds)...not toooo fast on the top end or the bottom end...but seems like a good builder...so what do you guys think the ultimate engine would be for this?...and also has anybody found any hop-ups for it besides the ones from duratrax...im not too fond of pink or blue aluminum...silver would be nice
