No there is no aftermarket chassis but a guy on ebay, groovie-stuf sells the chassis. I bought a set once from him for .99 cents plus shipping.

Thermal, any new updates on the RT-X 27? I've used electrics in the past but I'm starting to get into nitros and I'm trying to decide between the RT-X 27 and the Revo 3.3. It looks like the Revo has plastic gears. Has this caused any problems for anyone?

me and my dad have a tmaxx 3.3 and a revo 3.3 respectivley i would highly recommend any traxxas product at this point, I have losi LST2, duratrax warhead evo, traxxas tmaxx 3.3, and a redcat monsoon. Love the traxxas starter easiest one ever and the truck seems to be well built only thing i have a problem with on it is the slipper control pad things for the spur gear it spits them out ever 15 ish runs, and the diffs on the old 3.3 that i have were a little weak for the power that the truck has and i stripped out 1 diff cup on the rear.

Bullockjc, i have not done too much with the RT-x lately. The insane gas prices have kept me away from our outdoor series that travels to different tracks, so i havent done much running. I've been wanting to break in the LRP .28 though, and i think im gonna do it in that truck. Now, the Revos plastic gears have not been any problem for me. I've run the Revos since the original 2.5, then the 3.3, and now the platinum. I've never had an issue with drive train on the Revo. Neither spurs, nor diffs, nor drive shafts. Very high quality truck.

Motodude, i havent heard of anyone, at least not locally racing, that has that issue with the slipper pads on a Revo. I have however seen them crack, along with the holder for those pads, when over tightened. The diffs i've never had an issue with. But i will say they require maintenance often. Meaning frequent fluid rebuilds. Because i do that often during the race season, i suppose that prevents some issues.

The only thing i have had happen with the pads on my tmaxx 3.3 is that they crack and fly out doesnt do anything to anything else those little pads just let go, i have mine set at about a 1/4 turn from full tightened as per the instructions. As for the diff cup it was after about a gallon of fuel of just wheelies so it was mostly my fault but i love that truck more than any other truck!!!!

Well, im back from the race. Im very pleased to say the track review of this truck went better than expected. I mean i expected it to do pretty good overall, but not like this. After i got it fired up, i had to tune the motor a bit. First off, the motor tunes VERY easy. It still feels really held back though, and underpowered on the bottom. It actually feels like it has a bog at mid range. I did feel like the truck was waking up more, as i drove it more. I temp'd it at 259 on my gun, which is around 200 on the average temp gun. Regardless, i found that leaning the engine really only provided a lean situation. I feel the truck is tuned properly. So for the engine, i still have to give it a thumbs up! It breaks in very easy, and tunes very easy. Was also plenty enough to make the jumps at the track, and turn clean laps. Now for the track review. Which to be honest, was all i cared about. I dont focus, or base my overall opinions of my trucks, on the RTR motors they come with. Lets face it, any motor, stock or not, wont last forever. So i look for the future of the truck, in my review. So i put it down on the track, and found the truck would track incredibly straight, and held its balance at speed very well. At the end of the high speed straight, i found the first turn, and the rest of the infield an absolute breeeze to navigate. The truck does not appear to body roll at all. The truck also steers better than my race/track tuned LST2, as well as my Revo. Very impressed there! I quickly found the truck jumped incredibly level, and soaked up all the jumps. Then i was incredibly shocked when i blew thru the whooops section, that was killllling me all day with my LST2. I continued to run that tank dry, with one thing on my mind for the review... They just wont believe it, until they see it. Keep in mind, i ran this truck with stock motor, exhaust, stock TIRES, stock shock oil. I changed my ride height, adjusted slipper, did my diffs, and made sure everything had loctite. As well as the addition of my JR steering servo, and the Spektrum micro RX, and a battery pack. All the basicas, for any vehicle before i attempt a race, or even a run with it really. At this point, the truck has surpassed my expectations. I'll be getting any hop ups i want, and stocking spares, and buying the optional tuning springs. While its way too early to tell how durable it is, i do know it handles our tight indoor track incredibly well. Im looking forward to racing it. As much as i'd like to run this stock motor some more, to see if it really wakes up, i just cant. I need more motor to stay on the podium with the Bat, and Binary. I hate to give early reccomendations on any of my trucks i buy, but this one i feel deserves it. Duratrax took the time to cater to the MT race fans, and they put a package together thats very affordable. If anyone has any interest in this truck, i say take the plunge. Im looking forward to having my personal transponder in it next race, and a much bigger motor. Very pleased!!!

Oh, and one last thing. Someone asked about the differences between the warhead and the RTX. Well, here are a few i know of.

- RTX has a forward only
- RTX has a beefed up tranny and the hard steel clutch bell
- RTX has the race legal fuel tank
- RTX comes stock with 8mm stub axles, and 17mm hubs ( niiiiiiiiiiiiice)
- RTX has the race steering kit already installed

Other than that, i believe the EVO had the beefed up bulkheads. But i really cant be sure. I've only owned this EVO, that looks like its gonna see the track alot more often.

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Awesome review of this truck. So this does handle better then your lst2 and revo on track?

Cant say just yet RCCCS. I really want some more track time with the truck. But as i originally posted, im very impressed. I've got some paint work to get done today and tomorrow. If it gets done, i may throw another motor in here, and take it to an outdoor track Sunday for another test. This track is much bigger, much larger jumps, much different surface. It would be a true test of durability, etc. Im on schedule with my paint, so this might happen. Assuming i dont run into any hiccups while installing another motor. Im looking forward to running this truck indoors as well. Our indoor season is right around the corner. Should be interesting. +

During my brief affair with it, I found that it does not handle nearly as well as my race LST.

2D, i was gonna pm you about that after you posted a pic on the LST forums. Is that your truck? Or someone elses that you race with? How did it move with the new motor in it? Mine surprisingly seemed alot faster the other day when driving it. I still know it needs more power.

RCCCS, you'll find that every RC will break. I loved my old school maxx trucks, and my revos are my #1 toys here. I love traxxas and HPI products ALOT.

It really was mine. I was taken by the bumpstart, roll center adjustment and 8mm stub axles.
