Might as well get the thread started - this one will surely need as much tech support as the Warhead

This bad boy is coming out in Late February...

Its a bit early to speculate on how much support it will need. I think its great that Duratrax is moving forward with the truck, and evolving. I know from a friends experience with the original warhead, that they have great CS too. I'd like to see more on that truck. If they get the bugs out of that truck, i'll have one. As i've said many times, it has loads of options that'll make it a racer. This one looks nice. More pics! And where did ya find the info?

Man, you forgot all the features...

A lean, mean, nitro machine!

Just in time for racing season the RT-X 27 promises to deliver plenty of excitement. The big-block 4.4 cc G27CS SuperTigre® engine delivers a massive 2.5 hp with two easy ways to start it. The Posi-Shift™ transmission with adjustable shift point, offers a steel spur gear and features forward only drive for lighter weight race level performance. Included Kwik-Pit™ Super Start™ gives quick and easy shaft starting or this vehicle can be bump-started using most starter boxes. The 3-channel pistol grip radio gives drivers a comfortable transmitter with lots of features, plus a standard servo and a high-torque SX200BB ball bearing steering servo with metal gears. The RT-X 27 is totally equipped for hard-charging racing action! An instructional DVD and 1-year Stress-Tech™ guarantee complete the package.

Check out these features:
• Enclosed radio box protects the factory-installed receiver and radio battery.
• Dual composite brake disks give reliable, responsive stopping power.
• 3-shoe racing clutch features a dedicated spring for each shoe to ensure fast, positive engagement.
• Light weight transmission featuring a forward only shaft for lower rotating mass. This translates into a faster more responsive drive train.• Adjustable slipper clutch offers superior traction control and helps protect the driveline components.
• Steel clutch bell & spur gear provide durable steel construction for long-lasting performance.
• Fuel line clamp shuts down the engine instantly, without touching the flywheel or hot exhaust.
• Strong bulkheads and steering bellcranks.
• Constant velocity driveshafts reduce friction and backlash for more power at any angle.
• High-speed steering kit offers a tight turning radius to cut inside the competition.
• Fully adjustable suspension gives drivers extensive shock, roll center and camber link adjustments to improve handling and resist rollovers.
• Durable metal and engineering plastic parts throughout for a truck that’s as rugged as it is race-worthy.
• 165 cc fuel tank is low-riding and race-legal.
• Truggy style wheels with 17 mm hubs are compatible with other 1/8 scale racing truck wheels and tires while the truggy tires are mounted and glued with factory installed foam inserts.
• Eight installed, pre-filled Rapid-Tune™ aluminum oil shocks with adjustable spring tension and 63 shock mounting combinations.
Rigid 7075 T6 aluminum side plates secure and protect on-board components while the aluminum roll bar protects the chassis and doubles as a carrying grip.
• Adjustable body mounts and an aluminum tuned dual-chamber racing pipe are also featured.

Specifications:
• Length: 22.4 in (568 mm) • Width: 17 in (412 mm) • Height w/body: 10.5 in (267 mm) • Wheelbase: 14.375 in (365 mm) • F/R Track: 13.5 in (343 mm) • Weight: 10.8 lb (4.91 kg) • Requires: 12 “AA” alkaline batteries, glow starter, glow fuel (O’Donnell 20% Racing Fuel recommended), 6-cell NiCd or NiMH battery, charger

Gott give em credit on those changes. 17mm hubs standard? FOC standard? Very nice move Duratrax!

Really seems like Duratrax took a step in the right direction with all the upgrades/improvements. Looks pretty nice from the pic and description. Definitely seems like they had the track and racing in mind with this project.. almost looks like a truggy set-up. That style rim is one of my favorites (as far as looks go)

If this performs it would be 3 steps above an LST2. Bump box alone would make it 2 steps better.

Wow, I didn't see this coming...looks pretty impressive. If Duratrax gets it right, they'll probably sell a TON of these. Tower has it for $400

yea but it may flops like the warhead evo, for all we know they may be using the same cheap cast metal parts like the dogbone pins, topshaft gear pin, and of course the main ingredient the freaking superpooper , they might as well make a kit version because no ones going to want that pos engine again. Although if this new truck does indeed have a metal gear transmission i might have to buy the new tranny on ebay and squeeze it into the old evo. BTW wrote duratrax an email today they are NOT going to have an upgrade kit for a Warhead evo to the new evo conversion.

LOL - why DO they keep selling that engine?!?! and why don't they just sell it like you said, as a kit, or at least engine-less so we can spend the difference on an axial or picco or something, anything else!! LOL

It should. Tower shows the replacement bearing as an 8x16 for that area... I'll let ya know for sure, once my LHS gets it in stock.

yeah we got a few flyers floating around the shop with this on it, i did a little research on it and making it it bunp box compatible is a nice touch but, im guessing theres not going to be a very high demand for this truck, because duratrax isn't really a competitive brand out on the track but they might be one day if they keep this up.

Wheels are the only thing different from my warhead and the metal gear tranny and 17mm hubs. I have FOC already and I hate metal spurs. Still, they jsut dont get it Super Tigre=fail from the start!!! That engine SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!

I'm confused. All this looks like to me is an updated warhead. There realy is nothing different from what you can do to a warhead with hop ups, other than the metal gears in trans. I already have all the upgrades and use a bump box with my warhead all the time. What is the difference?

no idea......... although those of us with warheads should benefit from this flop when the new tranny comes out on ebay

Duratrax is probably under contract with Super Tiger engines that could be a reason why they dont use differnd engines
