Any new news about this truggy? I want one but don't want to buy right before a better version comes out.

Well, I got the truggy today and was really pleased with how everything looked. The first thing I did when I pulled it out the box was check the drivetrain. It did not seem very smooth to me almost like the brakes were dragging slightly. But I thought maybe it was because it has not been ran in awhile so I'll fix that! I spent about 30mins just briefly checking over everything, and had to make small adjustments to the throttle and brake linkage and a few other things. After that I put some shoes on her (rims and tires) and ran her right in front of my apt.

I just wanted to evaluate the truggy further. Engine fired up right away and I adjusted the tune, put her down and she was off. After running the truck for about a tank of fuel I noticed a few more problems. It did not take long to fix most of them, some of them I need parts, but overall I think I am really going to enjoy racing the K8T. I also found out why the drivetrain was binding and after the repair, she felt smooth as butter.

Once I fix all the small things, I will put her on the setup station and dial in the ride height, toe, camber, and caster. After that, we will be off to the track!

Alright!!! Finally, I was able to put her in the dirt. I could not believe how much more agility this truck has over my 8t2.0. This truck gives the term "turn on a dime" a new meaning. I am completely sold on it! I was honestly having doubts about keeping it, just because I am so confident in my old gear. However, after today there is noway I am going back. As a matter of fact, I am even going to run the Caster in my State Championship race in two weeks. I do have some setup changes to make in order for the truggy to fit my driving style better, and with the race coming up, I am going to be pushing it. I planned on getting some video footage of today but I was driving really bad and could not show that. But as soon as I make the changes, get some parts, and get a little more stick time with her the vids will be flowing in.

A few days ago I began to tear the truck apart to put in fresh diff and shock oil and to repair/replace anything broken or striped. I also wanted to inspect all the plastics for cracks or signs of wear. I am being lazy so I have not cleaned the parts yet, will probably do that tonight. Here is what I have done so far:

I also plan to install HITEC 7954 servos (throttle/steering), lipo batt., and dynamite pro throttle linkage kit.

When I took the truck out last I ran 35 weight oil all around. For my track that seemed a little stiff. For the rebuild, I will run 35 up front and 30 in the rear.

For the diffs I am going with 5k/10k/3k. Ride height will be set at 38mm front and 40mm rear. I will run 2* toe out and 2* camber in front and 3* toe in and 2* camber in the rear. We'll see how this works out.

Well, I started the rebuild of the truggy tonight and I am almost finished. It is getting pretty late over here so I am going to call it a night but not without giving everyone some pics of the rebuilt truggy:

You have an extra hole in the front side of your radio tray by your steering servo. I had that added to the design of the new truggy for athe reason. The front of the tray has too much flex with strong servos and will reduce your steering. Put an aluminum post there and drill a hole for it on your chassis. Steering will be way more responsive. Without this mod the truck seems to push one direction and not the other.

Yesterday was a very successful practice day. I was able to get to know the truck a little and make quick adjustments to her at the track. The handling and steering on this truck is unreal. The K8T is very responsive to every little input you make while steering. Right now, I have to drive slower because of this; however, once I get use to it, I will be able to run it faster.

Had another good day at the track today. I'm becoming a little more comfortable with my K8T and the setup changes I made from the first vid worked
out pretty good. I'll be sharing my setup very soon, just want to do some more fine tuning. Here is a vid from my 2nd run:

This past Sunday was a nice day of racing, and it turned out to be a nice day to learn as well. During my practice sessions, I was not able to keep track of my lap times because my track does not have the timing system on for practice days. I did feel I would be a little of pace but I just did not know how much. In the first qualifier, I could not keep up at all. My off power steering was to fast and I could not get on the throttle because I kept over-steering. I ended up finishing my first qual in last place but it was okay, I can only go up from here .

So, as soon as I jumped off the track, I began to change my diff oils. I wanted to notice a difference so I was not conservative. I went from 5f 10c 3r to 10f 10c 7r. Next qualifier came around and it was time to test her out. The truck felt much better, and I noticed I could get on the power earlier but it still was a tad bit to loose in the rear. I finished in 4th out of 5 trucks. But I did see an improvement in my fastest lap.

Quals were now finished and it was time for the main. I ended up qualifying for the Bmain, but if I could win it, I would get the bump to the A.

After the second qualifier, I changed my rear diff oil from 7k to 10k and was mentally preparing for the main. At the start of the main, within the first few turns, the truck felt way more consistent. I finally felt like I could drive her . I started in 2nd in the Bmain and on the first lap I was ridding the race leader hard. I could finally push the truck at the pace I needed, and could really feel a difference in how she responded. I knew I was going to win this race. As it would turn out, I was impatient and tried to force a pass. It ended up on my lid and 1st place moved about a half lap ahead of me. Because the truck felt so good, I caught up to him fast and was once again ridding his tail. I noticed my truck started to sag in the rear a lot and it seemed I was bottoming out on jumps hard. One of my rear shock screws backed out on me. So, I just pulled the truck off the track and called it a day. But I learned a lot and it will only get better. My wife had to leave before the main but I got some video of the quals.

Here is my 2nd qualifier:

Well, just completed another race weekend! I did not do as well with my truggy as I did with my buggy.
1/8 Truggy
During warm up for the 1st qualifier, one of my cvd pins came out. I did not get to qualify and would start the main at the back of the pack. When I fixed my cvd, I was rushing and did not bolt my diff case all the way down on the chassis. This ended up causing me problems and I could not finish the main.

The truggy felt great and I love my current setup on it. Before the next race I will be combing through everything so this does not happen again.

Here a vid of the few minutes I was in the main:

This Sunday was the first race with my Alpha S852 ant the K8T loved it! Just like nitro buggy I took q3 in truggy. I ended up finishing fourth in the A main due to a rear diff problem. But before that, the truggy felt awesome. Vids will come soon!!!

Over the past couple of days I have been building my new Caster K8T kit. I have documented everything on rc tech and on the Caster USA but I am just now posting everything on RCU. I wrote everything as I went along in the build, but I will just be copying and pasting what I previously wrote. Some things might not make sense, just letting everyone know.

Well, I decided it was time for a new kit so I ordered one from Mike. I will document my build here and share my progress with everyone.
This pile of parts will turn into a great kit in a few hrs, lol. Its time to begin!
