Back for more help. Which are the best batteries to use with HL rc tanks? The ones I have came with the tanks and don't seem to hold a charge. Also what is the proper charge time for the Ni-cd SC 1700mAh 7.2V FD that came with the tanks? Any help is appreciated.

I usually use my tanks over several short (10-15 minute) runs before needing a full charge, indicated either by speed reducing to absolute crawl, or flashing "flat battery" headlight LEDs

From flat, a 1700mah should be charged for:

4h 54m - 5h 6m (@ 400mah charge)
3h 54m - 4h 6m (@ 500mah charge)

These things really need 3000mah or larger batteries. I use Venom 3600s and get over 3 hours of run time with them. If you're serious about the hobby, dump the wall charger and get a peak charger. MRC Super Brains can handle 2 charges at once, cycle the packs, peak charging, etc. I bought a Dura Trax Piranha and it has served me well until I wanted to run dual 5000mah batteries and found out the Piranha can only go up to 5000mah, the latest MRC is 14000mah.

Like the other guys said, the War Room is where we discuss history and real tanks.

Or just run 7x 1700-2000mah batteries like I do... they're free (well... included lol)

I wouldn't have the patience to be swapping battery packs every 15 minutes, my pants would be hanging around my ankles with all those things in my pockets!

For example, yesterday the kids had first day of baseball practice. It's about 200 yards from the parking lot to the center of the fields where all the bleachers and concession is located. Then the area where I take the pictures is about 300 yards from the center of the fields out back behind the maintenance sheds. Of course once there we drive around and climb all the dirt, rock, shell, mulch, clay piles to put the tanks through their paces. Then we drive them back to the bleachers to watch the kids play. If lots of little kids are around and dogs we'll fire them up again and drive them around the bleachers to show off or if it's the BullDog, push the kids around on their big wheels and bikes. Being a fat guy I don't bend over and turn them off either, just the transmitter! The whole time when they're not in use is spent with the lights flashing and the little Novak fan running. After about 2-2.5 hours it's another 200 yard run back to the car. So all totaled it's about a mile of runnin'.

Sorry Wacky, I wouldn't have the patience for you to play with me! You're tank would spend most of its time flipped on its side getting its battery replaced!

My tanks, being not weighed down by all the metal accessories, last 40-45 min at least before I think "that'll do", though I usually switch tanks before I switch batteries. I usually end up with leftover batteries from parts trades etc, which is handy for other projects
