hi Nicolas,

The formosts are still flying in Singapore =)... there are another 2 pieces on someone's building board here...

I just saw a new Formost in the latest issue of RCJI, its Formost Venture or something, and it was on EDF power... fuselage nose, canopy and intake have a revamped look...

Are you still making trips to Singapore?

Rgs,
Chi Mun

Hi Chi Mun,

Good to hear from you again. Haven't been in S'Pore for many months but will be there during 18-23 April for the FHA Singapore Food Show...

Best Regards,
Nicolas.

Do you by any chance still have the building instructions manual of the Formost 150? Mine are lost in a flood. A pdf version will suffice. Thank you in advance for your help. George

Hello everyone, i just got one of these in the mail from nitromodels. Is the version 2 more of a piece of crap the n the version one? There is no molded wheel wells and the wings are no longer sheet-ed. I thought I would try this model with the mods and really these are no big deal to fix, I guess for 193 shipped to my door what can I expect. Thanks Blake K

Thanks for sharing. It's probably best to not over power this kit.

Blake... have you started to build yet? The weather is getting nice. It's time to fly and get your waiver.

If all of the modifications are done you can fly this with a 22Lb Turbine, I flew it with a Jet Central Falcon and then a Jet Central Rabbit

Guys,

There was someone selling ready cut plywood turbine conversion kits for the Formost 150, can you remind me who that was and are they still available to purchase ?

Hi Guys

I received one of these kits,as a gift from a friend of mine. The fuselage was not in good shape and the canopy was narrower than the fuselage in the seating area.I have not yet made a mould of a fuselage and decided to repair the faults and make a mould of it,with a few of my mods included in it.The tailbooms will also have the rudder servos housed inside them,at the wing tube section, thus removing some weight from the rear section. The stab will have one servo in the centre for the elevator servo. The canopy has also been changed and a photo has been included.I intend to power the model with my K80E and it should fly very well with it.

I`m also going to remould the tailbooms and will post pics of it,as soon as I get around to doing it.I just finished moulding the top half of the fuselage and now will start on the lower section. One photo of the inside of the fuselage, shows how SCEW the retract former was glued in position and the bearers have insufficient amount of glue on them.I will install a 15mm aluminium tubing, through the fuselage and into both wing panels.

I`m using epoxy resin for the mould and for the final product. This is my 1st attempt and so far I`m happy with the result. The photo shows the parting board removed and the grey surface is the gelcoat/tooling resin.

Will keep you updated on my progess.

Regards
Craig

Hi

I found a pic of the canopy, showing how I managed to get it to fit correctly.I inserted pieces of spruce,to hold it at the correct width, when compared to the seating area on the fuselage. Then I filled it with 2-part foam and let it cure like that. After that,I sanded it down and coated it with resin/micro baloon mixture. This is really a lot of work and requires a lot of patience.People who make moulds will agree with me,that it takes a lot of time to make.

Regards
Craig

Hi Guys

I`ve just cleaned up the flange of the top section. Then drilled and reamed locating pin holes in the flange. This will alow the two halves to align perfectly, when the top and bottom fuselage pieces are joined.Once the bottom mould is complete,I will then drill holes in the flange,to bolt the two moulds together, when the actual fuselage is made.

Craig

I had one with a P60. No flaps and it wanted to glide forever. Tried to slow it down to land but stalled and spun in . I will rebuild it and add flaps. Early versions like mine did not have flaps. IT NEEDS FLAPS!!!! My 2 cents. Molds look great!!

I have a Fuselage modified for Turbine already let me know if you still need one. This one would be full kit minus outer wing panels, I also have a full kit with not modifications yet.

Hi david101

Thankyou for your reply.I have heard that the model glides very well and the flaps must be used to slow it down and not to generate more lift. This means that the flaps should be lowered to as close to 90 Degrees as possible. By doing that, the drag factor increases,BUT the model will stall quicker and you have to come in to land with a little bit of power to keep the model just above stall speed. I`ve drawn up a new wing and increased the wing tip length and the length of the panel itself. Also used a fully symetrical wing section, based on the NACA 2010 profile. Now I have got more wing area and thus less wing loading, which is ideal for this model.

The stab has also been changed to a fully symetrical section and set at 0 Degrees incidence. The wing will also be at 0 Degrees incidence and same with the turbine. Thus all will be at 0 Degrees. Now these incidence angels, of the 3 parts, will make the model fly faster and "cleaner",when doing aerobatics. The downside to this is that the model will have a slighter faster landing speed,BUT here the flaps come into the picture. I used this set-up before on the Spanish design FIVE JET and its still flying today. It doesn`t have flaps and glides for ever. So the landing was a breeze, when I had a flame-out.

Regards
Craig

Ralph-
Hank here in Tucson has my Foremost rebuilt for me and I also have a spare kit in Mi with flaps. So do not need any more. FYI-
swap meet at TRCC this week-end(Sat & Sun). Come over if you can and sell some stuff.
