I have a brand new Jett BSE .65L.....beautiful piece of work!

It came with one of those little black mufflers not the large red one most Jett engines come with. That's cool. Dub told me for my intended use this was a better muffler. My problem is that the manifold is too short, as in it holds the muffler so close to the engine it won't clear the side of my plane. Does Jett make extensions for these little mufflers, or can I have you guys make up one?

Thanks,

Mike Wizynajtys

Hi Mike, thank you for writing...

I'm glad you like the engine. The new 65L 3D engine is one of our finest products.

Dub does indeed make spacers in 1/8", 1/4" and 1/2".

Drop him an email at jett@jettengineering.com with the spacing you require, and he can set you up.

Thanks, Bob. I called Dub and he's sending me out 2 1/4" spacers at no charge. He's such a nice guy.

Man, that BSE engine sure is a beauty!

Wiz,

Glad you are happy with both the engine and the service!

There was a post that came in just after yours asking about a 3D engine application. Hopefully there can be some good application discussions out here on the board as yall get to use the engine in different aircraft.

If you would be so kind, please send me a photo or two of both you and the airplane when it is ready to fly. I am always looking for new content for the Hall Of Fame web page.

send images and info to
rjb@brcdesign.com or
webmaster@jettengineering.com

Thanks
Bob

Bob,

Were you working along side Dub at the Toldeo show? If so, you and I talked about photos. I have a Super Hots that is getting close to finnished. When she's all done I'll send you a photo or two.

Say, when I was fiddling with engine to cowl fit I took off the needle valve assembly for re-location and upon doing so I also turned the needle valve around a bit. After reading the directions I now see that the needl was factory set.....dumb....oh well.....

The thing I didn't see in the instructions is where the starting point on the needle should be if one has to start from scratch.....1 turn out, 2 turns, maybe 3?

Hi Wiz

yep...that was me at Toledo... and I do recall our conversation

The high speed needle is no big deal if you had to remove it.

The main thing you do not want to mess with initially is the low speed needle located in the carb barrel. Dub does a great job of setting that one on the bench prior to shipment. However, once you get some time on the engine, you can tweek this a small amount to get the best idle and transition with your chosen prop.

Set the high speed (remote) needle 4 turns out. You can snug the packing nut down at that point. The engine will be 'safely' rich at that setting, and you can dial it in from there. The Jett needles are precise and easy to adjust.
