One more thing...on the wing tip tank things...sand them on the top and bottoms to match the surrounding wing surface...do not sand or change the end of the wing part. I just sand the tanks on the top side and bottom side....you will have to match the leading edge contour area of the tank to match....this will reduce a lot of drag and it gives you more lift..not much but you will see a diff. on landings...much easier.
If you need pics I can do that...I have a old fuse in the hanger.

You can use oil base or latex base. You have to wipe the plane down with denatured alcohol to remove the production mold release agent,,,if you don't the paint will not stick as well
On the EPP foam paint does not stick well any way.

servos...Hitec 65 mg will do the job and last a long time. Expensive yes but you do not want to guess about servos at any speed over 80 mph.

Make sure to balance your prop and check the watts/amps on 4 cells as to not toast the ESC...80 amp ESC would be the best choice....I always go 10-15 amps above the motor max amp draw just to be sure.

Post some pics

Ultra kote hanger 9 ??. Set iron to 1/2 the dail setting...TEST THE FOAM INSIDE OF THE CANOPY USING THE COVERING. Start like on setting 2.... then work up on temp.
Use as low a temp. as you can to get the foam to stick to the foam. I don't wrap the wing...I cut to fit the top of the wing then add a front cover..either tape or more covering.
Take your time and exp. don't use to much temp.

risky,

Which main parts have you purchased already?

I'm referring to MOTOR, ESC, and BATTERY.

I saw your list on last page...is that a planned list or have you bought the parts?

If you bought some of the parts which ones?

What is your speed goal? As fast as possible? Or above 150 MPH? Or above 130 MPH?

theb1bman,

Awesome work my friend. Truly work of art and labor of love.

I look forward to seeing some videos one day.....some of them HIGH SPEED (I hope )

Some modified and strengthened Funjet builds have ripped off the elevons at above 130-150 MPH.
I doubt that could happen to your built at 200 MPH.

I hope a 4S-5000 can fit in there like a regular Funjet with some foam trimmed inside.

Would be great to see someone get the world speed record with one of your C.F. Funjet airframes.

I've got a CC80,seperate bec, Bluebird servo's and a 5 cell 3000 for the FJ. I'm trying to choose between the ARC 28-47-1.5 or the 28-47-2 with a 5.5x4.5 prop. My old FJ did 119mph so I would like to top that. the faster the better....thank's

Hi guys,

I'm ready to try out a very light setup. I love my Mega 16/25/2 on 5S but I want to change it up a bit.

What's the latest on the best lightweight setup. The Microdan was the rage for a while. Is is that or the Scorpion now?

Also, will an eflight 30 amp esc work for a lighter setup? My CC 80 will come out too.

Thanks,

Steve

Rino ... my light weight set up is a Mega 16/15/3 and 40A ESC with Flight Power 3S 1,500. Its for cruising about only. Should be really good to fly. I am tired of the 4S 2,500 and 6S set ups.

It's so easy to switch the motor and esc in a funjet I think I will keep 2 setups depending on the mood I'm in. My 5S setup is fast but you have to fly in really big circles.

How do you think your 16/15/3 mega setup compares to to the microdan stuff. It seems like you would have a little more power but come in at around the same speed, i.e. 110 - 115 mph.
