Gryphon ... great info ... I will pass on that, its like spending so much on something that cheap (price of plane). I will stick with the current set up I guess ... now to get her up ASAP!

Where is Ditchit? Not seen him about for a couple of weeks ...

tIANci,

That info was general info for everyone, Maybe I should have added a name to it, for Example Chippedprop....LOL...

As far as the other guy, he also posts on another site and maybe he is resting his hand, the cuts didn't look good at all. I hope its healing quick.

I'll send you a link to where else he posts.

Okay ... ran the HobbyCity motor on 6S today. Was the maiden of No. 3 and my friend launched her, she torque rolled a bit to the left, dipped low and clipped the prop ... so I came around to land. I realised the motor was getting pretty hot for a 15-20 second flight! Conclusion ... no good for 6S. Then I swapped to a 4S pack, she flew for about 5 mins with and I landed her. The motor was getting hot but too burning hot. Conclusion ... cheap motor will never perform as well as branded motor. DUH~

I will say that my Mrga 16/15/3 was handling 4S much cooler than the China motor ... mind you the Mega is around 3,300 KV and the China one only 2,100 KV. I will leave the motor on ... fly her as it is ... no point messing about again. No more 6S unless its a branded one like Neu etc.

Sending No. 3 to my pal for a nice airbrush job ... guess he will surprise me ...

Happy flying guys!!!

I'm here buddy. Been keeping up with the thread. Looks like you're having fun. My hand has healed up nicely the last couple weeks but I've been distracted by my 2.2mYak and 1.8mKatana when I've flown. The FJ is rested up for now and will come out when we actually get some nice weather in the UK. Nice and warm just damn windy at the moment. Keep up the search for speed!

Oh dude, the Angel is a complete Winner. Good friend at our club has one and it flies better than any other pattern model I've seen. I'm getting one next month for my birthday. I do have thread for my Yak 2.2m but if you're interested photos of the maiden flight are in our Club Forum on this page. I've since remotored from the Turnigy crap to a Hacker A60-18L.

You got a thread for your Angel? Would be interested in knowing your power system. I'm probably going to keep it easy and go with the supplied Hacker setup.

Ditchit ... you got a Turnigy? My pal got the 4130 clone too, its a 400KV and on 6S is was not performing on his Angel (I made him buy the Angel!). We get what we pay for ... You can read my so called review here:

I am eyeing the SU29 140 ... lovely on 10S and 2,000+W ...

And you may know this Tianci but paint won't stick to Elapor unless you sand the shine off it or you paint it first with Multplex Primer. It'll end up a disaster if you don't do either. I painted an Acromaster before I knew this and all my hard work peeled off fairly soon afterwards.

You sure about that 142mph on 4s 2500 w/5x5 prop? That sounds a bit fast for that set up. What motor are you using and how many amps are you drawing. Just curious since I was pulling about 60amps @ 980watts on a 5s swinging a 5.25x6.25 and doubt I was doing 142mph. That was with an ARC 28-47-2 which is a 2170kv motor. How did you come to the 142mph speeds.

I don't get why you would go from a 2w23 to a Mega 16/7/6 if you want more speed. I can see going to the 2w25 but I doubt the Mega 16/7/6 will get you where you want to go. With 5s you should be able to get 130mph as long as you have the right motor/prop combination.

Either the HET 2W25 or the Mega 16/7/6 will be the next purchase for this project. I was hoping I could get away with what I've got but looks like I need a new motor.

This is going to be a bit of a journey but I want to get to 130mph if possible on 5S.

jimweda,

Regarding the 142 MPH comment , maybe he was referring to prop pitch speed. You know the usual; RPMX pitch /1056=Pitch speed in MPH.

If I was next to my own computer, I would run MOTOCALC...not that I believe my Funjet airframe setup in MOTOCALC is that finely tuned, but out of curiosity. It is setup to be semi close for 150 MPH Funjets.

Guys,

I flew my FunJet with the Medusa Research 028-040-2200 V2 motor, with Graupner 6x5.5 prop pulling 52A and 700+ Watts with a TP Extreme V2 4S pack - dopplered at 131MPH downwind !

I also flew the 1700KV version of the same motor on 6.5x6.5 with great results, vertical is redicolous (accelerated going up!) and almost asfast as with the 2200 motor at about 570W / 42A.

I would HIGHLY recommend these 2 setups for anyone wating to go REALLY FAST with a stock funjet easily !
