MattPelham -> High AH/C Lithium Polymer Batteries - Milwaukee / Emoli (2/5/2008 2:06:14 PM)

So, I've been reading along with most of you, using your data to the power of 10 to figure out how much
power I'm going to be needing for an electric motorcycle conversion I've been working on.

I've seen some questions around the forum asking: Where do I find batteries to give me a (high voltage, high current)?
Bill Dube's Killacycle uses 1200 A123 batteries and maxxed out recently at ~169 mph.
The Tesla Roadster uses a similar style of next-gen LIPO and has nearly 10 times the number of batteries.

Milwaukee sells relatively cheap Lithium Ion batteries and google indexes many spares. I've seen some packs (two batteries and a charger) at Amazon for ~$180

The type of battery is called Emoli (or Emoly) and is very new to the scene / relatively unheard of.

I'll keep you posted on my tests and research and believe that I've settled on this brand for my 30 mph test conversion.

Just a reminder that this is the Official A123 Racing Support Forum.

I sometimes wonder why others insist on discussing other manufactures cells here.
There is a general batteries and chargers Forum her on RC universe where all cells types can be discussed.

FYI Emoli s were being used for well over a year by RC Groups members before A123s were heard of and now very few use them due to A123s being so much better.
