Looking forward to meeting some savages in person hehehe! The Tmaxx is dialed for the outdoor track with some wide arms/road rage tires/threaded alluminum shocks and sway bars/motor goodies so maybe I'll have a chance against you big blockers!
( I secretly want a Savage more then my well equipped oldschool Tmaxx)

The Tmaxx will also need some significant tuning aslo X so don't worry, I brought it to school today and I am going to try to run it behind the school to at least get it close and to bang out a few tanks hopefully. The tune I had weeks back was great but was way rich evidently and with temps in the 20's I don't know how good it is going to get even in the ballpark. I was able to throw a hot plug on and get it started at 2 1/2 turns out but I didn't have enough time to get it good (picked up the kids)

I will have an hour or so after work to get some time in and I am going to wrap my heatsink as well to keep some temps up. My pro.15 is set from the factory to run optimally between 300-315 degrees! WOWSA! I have barely got it into the 200's!

I have a major tune to try to get today and the pull start probably won't help with my patiencein the cold. The smartech starts almost effortlessly depsite its lower compression/hp numbers so both will be on tap one way or another. I almost want to keep it for jumping and offroad but I am strapped for cash at the moment and focusing on the Maxx.

The Smartech is now on the Traxxas radio I put into it since I am eliminating the third channel in the Tmaxx for an FOC. It is running AM 27.145/yellow/channel 4

The TMaxx is now on my oldschool 3PB radio on FM Channel 84 75.870

I should pickup some FM crystals but they aern't easy to come by online. If you guys know where I can find some, maybe at HT, I would appreciate having some choices.

I'll def. take a look at your 1/18th X...although I have to make some c.c. bills disappear since I used it to fix up the Smartech and Tmaxx. Ebay only goes so far!

yea i know where your talking about, i see alot of trucks parked there at the bottom of the hill, the best place to bash when it gets warmer is pepper st off rt 25 there is a huge construction site, i usually go once a week to run the trucks, it makes the place you went to look like a basket ball court. when it gets too cold under 30 dont bother running them you will always chase the tune . i will bring the springs next time we meet but for the track we race at i would keep the soft springs and get thicker fluid like in the 40 wt oil.

If my tune goes well/kinda quickly I will do a drive by up at Pepper since it is 10 minutes away.

I have something for you "Savages" that I decided to probably not use that helps out in cruddy weather/dirty bashing. I bought a set of 8 Savage shock socks with a cool flame pattern I decided to not cut up to the length of my Tmaxx ones. If you guys could use them let me know, we'll work something out. For the moment a spring set/camber gauge/D cell metered glow warmer is in my future aside from knocking down my c.c. bill hehe.

Its about 10-15 away from me, once the weather warms up we should bash their more often.

What time are you guys getting to the track? I was thinking of going at 6:30 so I have enough time to run nitros and electrics. But if it only opens at 7 ill be there then.

Ugh well as I usually do... i screwed up.

Tmaxx has me ready to throw it 100 yards because I can't get a solid tune...drove me nuts so I put it away before I made it go airborne.

I wanted the perfect tune for the Smartech for Rich tonight and I got it. Was running perfect and shifting! Balls out perfection!

Finished up the end of a run 2 minutes before packing it away and I am beside myself almost in tears...

I clipped the rear tire on my Dodge with the front end of the Magic Wheel and sheared off the front bulkhead. Now I have to find two bulkhead halves and the steering setup which are very cheap

I bought the three parts...a whopping $20 plus shipping.

I feel like the biggest a-hole...parts will be here Tuesday.

Sorry for the rant...see you all with my gloomy face tonight at the track.

Well at thispoint I am ready to give up nitro altogether because of my Traxxas lack of tune and the fact I should have left the Smartech alone today. Now I have two trucks that wont work and for one of them I am fully to blame.

Sorry Rich, I have to get parts, after that, perhaps I will be smart enough to just hand you the transmitter. I wanted it to ru great for you and I killed it. Pissed can't describe how I feel at this point. My jaw dropped to the ground when I heard the snap.

Is the Magnum ok?!?!?!

Haha yes it is... I took a turn a little wide but stayed on the throttle. When I braked the opposite side of the Smartech swung around but the front was already doomed. Parts are coming, hopefully my sanity will return as well by then.

I am leaving in a second...hopefully you R/C whizzes can help me tune so the day wasn't a total loss. Set up the Savages and then swing by the Tmaxx corner.

I feel like a real turd when the Smartech smashed!

What a day

I was 2 for 2 on broken/unusable cars.

Awww man. I can't believe I was able to run the most! Of all the troublesome trucks! I was shocked it held an idle! When it was 15 degrees warmer i couldn't get it to hold a lick! I am going to chalk up my misfortunes to cold weather. When the temps are in the 50's/60's or better I am sure I will be in better shape. As I mentioned I aint even close to the running temp of the truck...I am almost 125 -150 degrees off!

Thanks Jombo for getting me in the ballpark. I checked to see where we were at on the HSN/LSN and the HSN was around 2 1/2 out which is near perfect considering that is for sunny/warm weather and that it should be even set more rich considering the cold air. I have seen this truck pull better from a start but again, weather is a big factor.

On a side note Jombo....I accidentally snagged your glow meter! Let me know when you want me to meet you or something to drop it off. I will charge it up so you don't have any down time in case you need it for Sunday when I probably won't be there.

I feel much better about the Magic Wheel now. Cheap parts and an easy fix. What a fun truck! I thought I was over revving but it was hitting the gears every so often. I just can't seem to adjust the tranny on it right but that little 15 SMT Japanese motor has some nice little low end torque! Makes the truck such a fun romper! I have to say that cheapo knockoff truck is worth every penny and sets up very easily.

Hey Rich! On a side note (correct me if I am wrong) I think I accidentally forgot to get $10 change from you. I know you had to make change and I forgot to ask you about it. Maybe you could just throw it in to next week or whenever and just credit me for the future.

Your friend who was a Tmaxx expert was a cool guy. I got to chat with him for a bit when I decided to take a chance and wrench the motor out for the one way. He recommended drilling a hol in the center of the pull start to have access to the oneway bearing so you can give it a quick nitro clean shot anytime it slips to prevent the P.I.T.A. disassembly like I had to do....good advice! A little rubber grommet could cover up the hole to prevent contamination or something. The look on Jombos face when I told him I had the bearing out was pretty funny.

Overall i have some good ideas on setting up the Tmaxx for racing/high traction handling. I took out the front sway to get back some steering and left the rear. The rear sway is actually more important because it stifens the whole weight of the truck instead of compromising the front end steering (like in a 1:1 car). I love these alluminum threaded shocks. I am going to mix and match some progressive springs with the existing set and the truck will handle almost perfectly. The FOC is on the way and all I need that is necesary is a tiger drive and I am set for a while.

Thanks guys for humoring me with my fat ass hub extensions that made my truck look silly. I swapped them out and put the magic wheel tires on for the moment to get my camber/toe straight. The problem with them is they are so sloppy and the hex nuts can't keep the wheels on. Plus my bearings for the knuckles will probably wear faster.

I think this Tmaxx has some life left in it that is waiting to be unleashed when I get those temps a bit higher and a better tune/slipper tension. Thanks all for the help! Sorry the Savages had some technical difficulties!
