The shop that I deal with told me that they will be available around the end of April for around $660, but that is here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, so it may be priced different in the U.S. If I buy one, the first thing to be changed is the tires. Just reminds me of my Stadium Force. Should keep those original tires, they look waaay cooler.

well, they say it will be here mid april. im not gonna change anything untill i break in the engine and run the truck for a lil bit. i think the high sidewall height is part of the way the truck is designed. well have to wait to see. ill try some differnt combos from tires i have only after its broken in, and then ill report on how it went.

Yeah, I get a kick outta the peeps that always knock a new vehicle, even before it comes out! I remember all the ones knocking the Savage X at first! I wouldn't own one, I ain't getting one, etc. etc. Bet 90% of those guys owned one within the first 3 months after it came out!

I've been into this hobby a long, long time and owned many monster trucks and alot of Savvy's at that! I don't see what the problem with a another new Savage is all about! Longer, more power and quite a few other improvements to boot! I even like the body and don't see much wrong with the tires! I like the balloon look to them!

All I can say is, if you think you'd like the truck and got the money, then have at it, if not, no-one is gonna force you to buy it! I guess with all the knocking of new products like this, HPI and others should never have their own idea of what might sell and bring new things out!!

Nice to see HPI coming out with a new Savage, even though I bought a new one in January. Looks like they made some worthwhile changes. If it was my company I would have made three more changes.

I strap my battery pack to the top of the receiver box so I can leave it closed. I never used the stock receiver so maybe it's my fault but I am thinking it is way too much trouble to put the lid on.

The throttle mod is pretty easy to do so it's not a big deal but if the throttle/brake linkage doesn't work why keep it?

And the gas tank! What's up with that thing? It's over 2.5" tall. Fluid pressure is in direct relationship to depth. The taller the gas tank the greater the difference in pressure that will be exerted between empty and full. Not rocket science here.

Must have to do with cost. Maybe they made 265,439 gas tanks, 643 throttle assemblies and 2,422 receiver/battery boxes and need some place to put them.

Truth is I love driving my Savage. Wheelies and endos on command. Makes it more of a challenge to keep the rubber side down when there is so much mass up top.

I think all the naysayers of the new Savage are kinda short-sighted. All of the aftermarket extended chassis plates being sold are extended behind the engine. I've thought this was ugly from day one, but it does make for a less-wheelieable truck, which is a good thing to me. It would've been better if they lowered the center of gravity more, but IMO the X radio box is perfect. I just wish they had bolt-on bumper supports like the Sav 21/25/SS/SS4.6. that's the only fix I'd make to it.

Good job, HPI! If I didn't already have two modified Savages, I'd grab one of these!

You know, when I first looked at the truck I have to say I was dissapointed. But I guess I was using the mentality that I already have most of those upgrades on my truck. But if I was a noob, I would definitely want to start out in the hobby with the XL.

I hate the location of the tank but I think it is there to balance out the piepa little, albeit henging off the side like a flailing arm. I would love to shove a firehammer tank in the back of that thing!

I think it will be a sweet truck, cept for maybe having a motor that doesn't quite get as many revs as some would like. It is a stock motor however, and that is always to be expected. All you gotta do is get rid of the ugly body and cartoon like tires and its a pretty sweet truck! I would love to get one but then I would have to start all over with my 5b savings account.

so i hear a lot about how many of you updated ur savage, what all did you do to them. and how about post the link to some of these option parts. make it easy now. i love to cick on the links to the parts i want...

now as far as this XL. i think i will get one. after all i dont have any savage. i been running my rc10gt for the past 10 years off and on with a friend. so i think its time to upgrade.. and i think the XL would be a good start. i hear the savage is so durable. i do see so many other MT at the hobby shop so im really not sure what i want to get. but i think ill go with the XL.. id prefer to have the SS kit just cause i love to build them from ground up.. wonder how long b4 an SS kit would come out, if at all.. and what about a kick ass engine for it. can u get a Pico engine for that truck? and what option parts would you all get for it? and where. its been sometime since i been in the hobby.. so post some info people. and you cant make everyone happy. to all the haters why dont you develop and market that perfect truck. i mean where does it end? you can make them so big to where it would be a real truck.. and who cares what the body looks like, right? and ok so the tires are differnt. put other ones on it. right.. im just venting here. ok send some info.. and i hear may 5th it should be in the stores. but who knows, some may get it sooner. some later....

Well it was to come out in mid April, but now early May? How often do they change the release date?
