Great job. Really enjoy the set, the photography/lighing and the smoking wreckage off in the distance. As before, neat Tiger.

This is a decal set for Wittman's S 04. Quite the record.

Yhr, you have raised the game again. Your set/backdrop and photography are excellent. The finish on your Tiger is typically stunning.
Here is a question on how you achieve your finishes. Do you base coat your tanks with dull metal coat (metal shade that's lost it's shine by being exposed to air and weather) before applying the textured coat and finish. Or do you chip the textured coat and then apply dull metal colour to the exposed areas. The reason why I ask is (and I'm focusing on the turret and mantlet sections as I write this) you achieve a very convincing look with a good build of texture revealing dull metal underneath.
I base coated my Sherman with Flat Aluminium and although it looks good when I've chipped the Olive Drab. It is in fact a bit too White/Silver to look convincing. I'm thinking I should have base coated it in a duller oxidised metal colour.

Regards.

Nick

Thanks

I spray painted the tank with a textured metalizer finish. I then sanded it with wet sand paper to reduce the texture, I then sprayed on the top coat. Using a small screw driver I then go and distress the paint randomly and around areas that are likely to see wear. I then pull out the wet sandpaper again and lightly sand the tank. I gently wipe the tank down with a cloth This really creates a dull finish. I then apply a couple of coats of dullcoat to "lock" the finish. The tank can now have the decals applied and the washes.

So the trick I think you are looking for is the wet 600 grit sandpaper. This will create a dull fine paste that will slightly fill the scratches. The soft cloth wipe down will remove most of this paste but leave some behind, dulling the exposed metalized paint beneath the top coat.
