PropTop, This is true... Many .61 engines also went up in rear bearing size, even if the crankshaft diameter was not changed... OS .61 engines, for example, traditionally use a 17 mm O/d crankshaft. The OS.61FSR/SF engines used the 6903 rear bearing, which has a 30 mm O/d, is 7 mm wide, weighs 16 grams and has a 4.6 kN dynamic load rating. The OS.61FX engines uses the 16003 rear bearing, which has a larger 35 mm O/d, is 8 mm wide, weighs 33.3 grams and has a 6.0 kN dynamic load rating. That larger, heavier bearing obviously made the crankcase significantly larger and heavier... But, reasoning with the load rating only, even the 15 mm O/d 6902 should be enough to handle all the loads placed upon it by a .61 engine (4.33 kN dynamic load rating)... Those bearings are not 'going south' because they're 'overloaded', but because of other reasons, like poor manufacturing quality, for instance... The load ratings, if someone cares, are for WIB bearings and are taken from the WIB metric bearings page. . Their 6902/3 bearings are named 61902/3...
