....an 11-7 1/2 Master Airscrew or Zinger should work.

An inexpensive "chunk burner" wood stove would run you out of your shed, insulation or not, with its heat.

Maybe, but with 44 gals of methanol and other volatile solvents and the issue of moisture condensation on a cold tin roof overnight, combustion-type heaters aren''t a good idea :-(

I don''t mind being a chicken but I draw the line at being a roast-chicken :-)

Oh, how lovely!

Thanks for posting these photos! I wish our versions had come with the tuned pipe. Can you please give us the dimensions of the pipe? Overall length, diameter of cone, distance of cone ring from inlet, and distance of cone ring to outlet.

What happened? Some posts disappeared include mine.
I try upload pipe's photo with dimensions one more time.

This pipe made by very light but soft Al, and Thickness is about 1mm through out the whole.
And biggist diameter in the middle of pipe is about 40mm.

I didn't set up mines yet, so I don't know the other parameters.

Is anybody working on headers for this engine? XJet, maybe? I am still interested in a couple if they are in progress.

Thanks,
Mark

I must admit that since the crankshaft on mine fell apart I've not given much attention to the header issue. I'm just about to head down to the workshop and start machining a new front housing, crankshaft and rear disk-valve set-up for my MDS so I'll probably have a better idea what sort of timeframe I'm working with soon.

Take pictures of the process. I would love to see how you make the parts.

I swore I posted my first filght test but it appears to have been deleted by someone. Anyway here it is again. http://youtube.com/watch?v=7JYD1x9NTYk

I've since changed the prop to a wood 11x6, down from the apc 11x7 seen in the video. Much much better. Didn't tach it but it screams and the transition is very fast with the lighter prop load. Pipe length I didn't change yet but with the smaller prop it's definitely better than the first flight.

The only negative is now the carb barrel is trashed. The throttle stop screw must've back out enough to cause the barrel to move. Now the groove in the barrel has to dimples in it and the carb will get stuck when it rotates to these areas. Totally killed a throttle servo on the last flight. Luckily the throttle locked just above idle and I landed safely. So, it's grounded until I either repair the barrel or find another carb that will work.

Mike

Mike, you can use a needle file to remove those dimples. Maybe that will solve the problem.

The engine sounds awesome in your video!

The barrel screw on mine broke off where it was turned down from the threaded portion so I made a new one. Works fine now (wish I could say the same for the crankshaft though -)
