It's an MDS RIRE 10cc sport/pattern engine, MDS looks like "MAC" in Cyrillic. That engine probably dates to the mid 1980's or early 1990's. Mine have the year hand-buzzer engraved on the case. A buddy of mine and I used to import them into Canada in small numbers, long before MDS began to be imported "commercially" to North America, with some cosmetic changes and whatever else. As I recall, we used to get the .40 FISE for USD$20-25, and these RIRE .60's for maybe $35 or so. They came plastered with preservative, kind of a messy greasy waxy yellow guck that did the job quite well. Guys around here used the "MAC" .40's as they called them as horse around Q500 engines at times, and they hauled reasonably well. They do not like much nitro. 5% tops for that .60 will be fine, and it will run on FAI but 5% idles and transitions better as you might expect. I have two of these and 2 or 3 of those .40's buried in my collection still. The internal machining is very nice, the exterior can be rough here and there, especially the machine screws.. the examples we used to get all used slot head screws, and I swear the slots were cut by hand, they were often far enough off center you could easily see it. Most are strong runners, but toss the supplied plug after maybe the first couple of short WFO runs, IOW treat them as "early break-in" plugs. Unless the plugs with this one are different, and that is entirely possible with this level of production. MJD
