As I recall, the OS Hanno pipe was made by Hatori.

Yeah that would make sense. It was manufactured at that time where Hatori ruled in F3A... I haven't seen any anodized Hatori though.

So, is Hatori considered to be 'good kit'?

The engine has been reassembled. All I need to do is turn down the heads on some socket screws to fit into the counterbores in the head. In the meantime I re-worked the carb. It did not rotate smoothly at all. The venturi had been machined with a dull tool and looked a bit ragged. There is also some sort of aluminum looking coating, maybe it's zinc plating, on the steel parts. Anyway, I disassembled the carb, degreased it, then polished the brass barrel with some fine grit cloth and 3M Scotchbrite. I also polished the inside of the venturi with my Dremel Moto Tool. Then I used a brass brush on my Dremel and cleaned up the various steel screws and other threaded parts. It works real smooth now.

....measure that bore and stroke before you get the head back on.

Bore: 23.95mm

Stroke: 22.04mm

PS: Figures are 'approximate', I did not use a dial indicator or a bore gauge

....now you can run it "open pipe" with a known quantity prop, like a MAS 11-7 1/2
after a couple break-in runs, and see what it turns. Then you can decide how you
want to pipe the engine....

....torque, standard, or high rpm.

Why did you want to know the bore and stroke?

....I wondered if it was a long stroke pattern motor, a rear pipe sporter, or a high speeder.

Running it open pipe will show how it is ported, and that will tell you how to pipe it.

FBD.

Oh. Well, based on the ratio of stroke to bore I would say it is a rear pipe speeder.

What do you think?

.....yes, that would indicate as such. The state of tune is what I would look at to set up a pipe.

For instance, using the MAS 11-7 1/2 prop (a standard on 60 engines for decades) a K&B .61
will turn it a t 12,000 flat....an OS .61FSR will turn it at 14,000 flat....a totally different state
of tune. Therefore I would use a longer pipe on the K&B and try to enhance to torque of the
engine, and on the OS I would use a shorter pipe and drag every last ounce of RPM and HP
out of it.

This is what I have been getting at from the start. Piping it to scream it's guts out may make
it blow in a short period of time. On the other hand, if it was a torgue motor, and you propped
it as such, it might last a long time (low rpm).

FBD, how would you classify this engine? I assume "high speeder". Roughly 24mm bore by 22mm stroke is very similar to the dimensions of the old Rossi 60, OS 61 FSR and Supertigre G60 Blue Head.
