Recently, while considering a change of FM rf decks I learned that there was an "A" deck or a "B" deck depending on the frequency to be used. They said if I wanted to use an xtal on Ch.17, I needed the lower band deck to avoid the need for retuning the deck. My question:

Does this apply to receivers as well ? I have been around the hobby quite awhile, but never have heard of this. Can you shed some light here?

Thanks

Brad

Actually changing the crystal in an RF deck is against FCC and AMA regulations; the module or radio must be tuned to the crystal. This is why Hitec does not sell TX crystals to the end user.

All Hitec receivers can accept any channel crystal but some other companies have a high band and low band version.
