I just want to add some general suggestions, as everyone else has pretty much covered the "next warbird thing.

I am just a sport flier, not a ruthless competitor. I did retire form the military, so I am a little discerning when it comes to military things.

1. No exposed servos. Exposed arms in the wings are fine, but please put the servos inside.

2. If you are bothering to do retracts, also do the tail wheel. At least include the parts, as an option, and let the intrepid modeler figure it out.

3. Flat covering

4. Offer barebones arfs, and maybe "finishing packs" which include covering, decals, etc. (I know we'll probably never see this

5. Offer some kind of hidden exhaust for the evolution product line.

6. Always include a correct scale pilot bust.

7. Always do flaps.

8. Partial cowls integrated with the fuselage, as opposed to the hood cowls (P-40, PT-19)

I own a H9 P-40 (moved the servos inside, added a retractible tailwheel, Keleo scale Exhaust, Robart Struts), PT-19. They both fly like a dream!

Hangar 9 makes a great product - keep them coming!

Bill,

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. You nailed 'em all. This is precisely the list of gripes I come up with, too.

I think we have to realize and accept that the ARF vendors are trying to appeal to the modelers out there who don't want to have to do anything other than mount the engine and radio and go fly. They generate product that is finished, with decals and all, to grab the attention of this sort of modeler. And, by eliminating the finer scale detailing, such as cowl flaps and retractable tailwheel, they keep the cost competitive with the other products that are out there.

I wish they would add the option for a bare-bones model, though, so I could modify it if I want to, then cover and paint it with my choice of schemes and details (rf., your Item 4). Sure seems to me they could do this--- feature the finished product version in all their ads and then offer in the fine print section a version that is ARC (almost-ready-to-cover), for those modelers who want extras, or who want a different suit of clothes on it. Especially a warbird like this quarter-scale Fokker DVII. The DVII came in so many different color schemes, seems a shame to be locked down to just one.

I totally agree.

I know they have to make money. I empathize with their challenge. But an ARC would be great. Topflight does this with their P-51 Giant Scale, I believe. And you used to see Hangar 9 Cap 232's coming in all white etc.

Maybe someday. I do like the way they fly. I don't think my P-40, and PT-19 with a Zenoah G23 could fly any better.

I vote for the Albatros DIII or V or the Spad XIII.

I'm just excited that someone is making another WWI plane. I love the Sopwith Camel, and it more than anything in my collection. I've been scratch-building a Fokker D-VII, because I didn't want to wait for Hanger 9. However, I may need one of these when they come out.

Hopefully Hanger 9 will continue with the WWI planes!

The albatross would be great. How's about a Jenny, Avro 504, or Pfaltz ?
I got it! Sopwith tripe!

P.S. I hope they fix the covering by putting the lozenge right side up where we can see it when not flying.
Is that stuff available? (The Lozenge film}

I'll probably get one of these, and these, when H9 comes out with them:

Spad VII &XIII
Albatros D-III
DR-1 (since Tower seems content to keep selling expensive replacement parts for theirs, but won't re-release it.)

But if they are not 60-65" wingspan, I'm not interested. None of this stupid 55" stuff that isn't IMAA legal like Nitro Planes did with their DR-1s, and no 65+ stuff that is 1)too expensive and 2) won't fit in a car.

Spad or Albatros DV for me! Way to many Fokker Triplanes out there as it is. If you come out with the Albatros then I'm selling my FunAero kit for sure!

I got a chance to see this plane up close at Joe Nall. It looked pretty nice but I too wish that nice covering was on the top side. Engine compartment looked robust and large enough to fit just about anything you could imagine. Fit and finish looked outstanding like you come to expect with H9 products. The one at Nall was electric. I did not see it fly.

I was searching color schemes for something else when I ran across this photo of a full scale DVII. Just thought that it might be of interest here due to the mentoin of colors and markings. I hate to see aircraft in this condition though...........

Cheers! BH
