here's a follow up question for my previous post.....

Can i also use the Pocketlader to cycle my Duralite Li-Ion 4300ma 2s2p ECU battery? If yes, what settings must i use, and will the discharge terminate automatically when the proper cut-off voltage is reached?

Richard

Hi Richard,

Although lithiums don't require cycling to eliminate any type of memory effects you can use the Orbit Pocketlader to discharge the ECU pack. Simply go into the polymer charging screen and reduce the amp rate until it goes negative at which time the screen will display discharge. You probably will find the Pocketlader will only allow a maximum discharge of around .6 of an amp and the charger will get very warm during the process.

As for automatic cut off after the discharge cycle is completed, I not sure how and if this is done as there are no mention of it in the instructions. When you connect your ECU pack the charger should auto detect the pack as a 2 cell configuration and then all you have to do is select the discharge rate. We recommend for storage purposes leaving the ECU pack at a resting volatge of 11.1 volts

hi mark,
the ecu pack i'm referring to is a li-ion pack, 7.4 volt, 2s 2p...........so the resting voltage can't be 11.1 volts.....do you mean for me to use the li-ion setup like i use for charging the pack, and just reduce the charge rate until it goes on the negative side?.....and what voltage should i terminate the discharge at ?.....i'm up in the north where it's too cold for me to fly, and the duralite instructions specify not to let the pack set longer than 4-6 weeks without exercising it to help get the maximum life span from it.....and also, i'm assuming to do the discharge from the black lead, and not the yellow charging lead....what do you think ?

thanks again,

richard

Hi Richard,

Yes you are correct. The resting volatge should be 7.4 volts on the 2s2p. Sorry [sm=red_smile.gif]

Select the lithium ion setting and reduce the charge rate until it goes to negative and you will see the display change to "DISCHARGE". Terminate the discharge once the voltage reads 7.4 volts and you can discharge through the yellow lead up to 1 amp if you wish.
