When I stop my Mini-Baja it won't go until I give it a push. I just used a battery for the first time. What can I do to fix this?

EDIT: At the beginning of the run this wasn't happening. Then I changed the channel on the transmitter and the receiver then this started. I tried changing channels and that didn't work. It also slowed down when this started happening.

It is the RX-280 motor (stock) and Losi ESC (stock). It rolls just fine, but has never done this before.

Your brushes are hanging up in the hood most likely. The hood is the square box shaped channel the brushes go into. Also make sure the leads going to your brushes are not binding on the endbell somewhere not allowing the brush to push inward with the spring.

Ok thanks. Maybe I jarred it up a little.

EDIT: Thanks that fixed it. I took it off my ramp (the bosx it came in) and popped the right front shock off. I did that yesterday too. Is there anything I can do to fix the shocks popping off?

Buy some 3racing aluminum threaded shocks and that should solve your problem.

I fixed the problem with a little washer. But now it won't run unless I turn the brushes to their side. Is there anything wrong with that or will it tear up my motor?

I had the exact same problem with my Baja. I just bought a new motor for mine.
I think all the electronics on these leave something to be desired.

Yeah this is my third replacement (ENTIRE CAR).... but it isn't going anywhere. Will this tear up the brushes and destroy the motor?

You might want to consider a different replacement motor. I put a Trinity Micro Monster in mine and it worked pretty good. Very similar performance to the stock, yet more reliable.

Does that ESC handle it? Losi said it could only handle 6 cells. I think I might turn the brushes sideways and nurse this motor until its done, unless someone knows that will destroy the motor.

I'm really not 100% sure on that. It's not a significantly higher draw motor than stock, so I imagine it will handle it. I think I switched to a Novak Spy by the time I replaced the motor.
Of course you don't have much to lose with your method too. You might give that a try first.

I'm pretty sure that it is toast. now it won't run no matter how the brushes are turned.

ok I'm having the same motor problem, I have an rx280 from a baja and it only runs when I push it, I was told to take it apart clean the armature and brushes with alchol and oil the motor. What do you guys think?

That would be a good place to start. Just remember to oil the bearings, not the commutator or brushes. Only use comm drops specifically for that. Oil will cause your brushes and comm to burn up much faster.
