Wondering which flying wing to buy next. I have the Great Planes mini-slinger, stock set up brushed power 180 and brushed ESC. I have acquired a brushless 400 inrunner that I would like to put on something else. I figure that motor would be a little too much for the small wing and propeller would probably chop it up too.

I recently came across Nesail.com. They have quite a few to choose from. The "Unicorn" and "XE" Combat Wing strike my eye. Seems they have come up with a good system by not having any canopy or hatches to get in the way of the smooth air flow. I'm not sure on which one I should lean towards. The XE claims to be a very strong durable wing, while the Unicorn can be modified into 3 different designs being the wingspans. The smaller the faster with 400 set ups.

Was wondering if anyone is flying either of these models, and if they could give feed back as to how they perform.

Thanks

Cant help! I have 4 wings none of which are powered, from the basic foamy Xit to a 3M built up Convair like job. None require anything but a slope and a breeze to fly as, as is usual in this country, any power limits site availability. I DO have a couple of leccy gliders which are restricted to only 3 of the 7 sites available. However I can fly my 1/4 & 1/5 scale jobs without restriction - and they all land on a minimum of 10 acres of mown grass - thanks to the local Council or sheep!
Get onto Google maps of the UK, type in 'marine drive west barton on sea' to see my home AND the cliff! - its nearly 100M to the edge.

Appreciate the effort though. Anyone else out there who may have seen one of the models mentioned fly who would like to comment on THOSE SPECIFIC ONES?

thankyou

Why a wing? With that 400 inrunner and the right ESC you have a vast choice of models shaped like real airplanes to choose from. Most of which will give you a better glide performance than a wing. Check 'puffin models' Uk and Filip 400, a lovely litt6le plane. I'm sure there must be importers the builders range in the US.

Hey man, why not buy the Zagi-ZGI pro kit that comes only with an aluminum mount and the Zagi itself. It is top quality and the motor size is just right. This plane is flapless at brushless motor speeds, and is very resilient. I have crashed this Zagi into a Zagi-5c sloper doing at least 55 mph and nothing happened to mine. Let's not talk about the other Zagi...
Well... Here's the link... check it out it's great! http://www.zagi.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=231

I will take it into consideration. I remember when Zagi's first came on the market, use to be a lot less than $100 back then. Course now you can't get much for under a $100 now. The ones on Nesail cought my eye though because of that. The unicorn looks more streamlined than the Zagi. Being that nothing hangs out over the wing. Even the motor is recessed into a cowling in the back. And the combat wing comes with a motor, "a brushed 400" not sure if I would use it on there. The combat wing one looks a lot like yours when compared in the picture.

Maybe late, but I have a Unicorn 48"; Himax 2815-2000, 2100 MaxAmps 11.1V, and ~5.5x4.5 prop a Thunderbird 36 ESC never gets warm. I love it fast, stable, 15 minute flights (mixed flying) as it glides like a 2 meter and verticals 200 feet with a short running start. I bumped into your thread looking for a super fast set-up. I'm considering building a 2 motor version... I have every confidence the design can take both the weight and strain.

The epp frame is indestructable (I hit a flag pole so hard people came in cars to see what the rucus was aboutno damage). Some build tips I'm pleased with the results of: cut battery compartment from the top and used a Coroplast cover heat shaped to fit (I'm Oregon flier that lands on wet feilds), use super magnets in Coroplast winglets, squeegee a thin coat of Gorilla glue over everything, sand smooth, then use a dusting of S-77 on ultracoat to hold it ironing only to remove wrinkles. Also, I inset a PVC pipe cap in the bottom edge of the nose to hook a finger in for launchdoing away with unconventional "fling".

Anyway, I hope your as happy with whatever you bought as I am with my Unicorn,

Mark

YES, you do! For only $35 + shipping, you can get a Parairie Dog EPP combatwing from Leading Edge Gliders in Kansas. Check out Jack Coopers website www.leadingedgegliders.com
