Tom has them ,but I do not know exactly what I need.
50cc extra with 5955's.There are packs with one or 2 leads, one switch or two??
Was hoping one pack with one switch (Deans connectors?) and the other plug to fit JR receiver.
I am running the ignition seperate

I'd suggest one pack with one lead and a smart-fly super switch with 1 HD input and 2 outputs, this gives better current flow into the receiver and two connectors. I have this stuff in stock.

For me it's a waste of money. With a single 2300 pack you will be able to fly probably 8 flights minimum on your 50cc plane. As long as you start out fully charged and check how much you put into the batteries after flying you shouold never have a problem.

It has a dean output so you would need to plug it into a power expander, another waste of money.

Evening Tom,

I have installed the Smart Fly HD Switch that you are talking about wiht the 18AWG input with deans and dual JR 22AWG outputs to the receiver figuring on a single A123 2300Mha battery pack. I am really getting a lot of flak from guys at the club about not running dual packs, 2 switches and even a Bat Share for reduency in case something were to go wrong with a switch or batt. short...etc.

What are your thoughts on this?

I guess I keep thinking.....ok I have about $1500 into my Wild Hare Edge that I really don't want to have become a lawn dart. Maybe spending an extra $75 to $100 would be a smart investment....or is the investment already made in some high quality hardware/electronics going to lower the percentage signficantly to even worry about those kinds of problems?

Boy this has got me confused........LOL.......

Mike

Two switches eliminates a potential problem with 1 switch, that's cheap. It depends on how much you trust 1 switch. I have never had a switch fail myself.

The battery won't be a problem if you maintain it properly and are sure that it is properly charged. The problem with a second battery is more weight than cost. If you think 2 batteries and 2 switches will make you sleep better then use them.

Bat share is a waste of money, totally unnecessary. Anybody who tells you that you need one should be considered unreliable.

Does anybody know if I can use these new batteries with my Fromeco charger? (just the standard charger, not the IonCube)

What charger are you using for your batteries? I can always get a new one.

The Fromeco Cube charger has just come out with changable cards for the Cube that will allow you to charge A123 and LiIon at the same time. When all card slots are equpped, you will be able to mix and match up to 5 battery packs at a time. If equipped with the brain card you will also be able to set the amp input and read how much charge has been replaced. Don't know if it will charge as fast as the CellPro but looks like a good solution for those of us that already have the Cube.

I also bought the FMA Cellpro 4s.. a great charger..
It has a A123 charge screen.. charges at 4 amps,
which is one of the advantages of the A123 battery.
The A123 charge screen has three pages. One looks
at total voltage of the pack being charged, one that looks
at individual cell voltage of the pack and the third page
shows the amount of Mah capacity put back into the pack.
I have five A123 packs in two airplanes. I've yet to spend
30 minutes of charge time on either airplane.

I also have the older Fromeco Charger. It charges at
two amps or half amp rates. If the new Cube Charger
charges at the same rates, I guess that would be okay, but
I prefer the faster Cellpro. To each his/her own on that.

Hi guys. I need some help please. I have been building on my new WH Honda Sukhoi. The project has been held up for a bit due to shortage of funds. Anyway, I'm hoping to pick up my servos and batteries at the Toledo show. For some background, 28% sukhoi with a DL50. I have a Wolverine switch already installed. I'd like to use (1) A123 battery for both Rec and Ign. I also plan to pickup the Cellpro 4S charger. My question is, the Wolverine has (2) switches. Can I use the dual Dean's outputs on the battery to go directly into the switch and then an output lead on the Wolverine to go to the receiver and the other to go to the ignition? Or am I better off using a seprate switch for the ignition and getting a battery with 3 output leads? That way I can have both leads from teh Wolverine going to the receiver. I am using a DX7 with the AR7000 receiver.

Thanks!

Hey Darkwarder,

Well I'm not sure on using the same battery and the Wolverine switch on both RX and Ign. I would have to guess that the switches are independent of each other so I would think that there would be no Eng. RF noise coming back through the circuit to the RX. But don't quote me on that!!!

I was also looking at doing the same thing, but I did not feel there was enough inforamtion out there to clarify the results. Although I believe Dick Hanson has been working with these A123's and flying them in the configuration your talking about with no problems at all. You also want to make sure your Eng. Ing. is set up to handle the 6volt power source. You might want to email Dick or check around in some of the other forums, I know it has been posted.

I also went with the single A123 2300mah battery and a Smart Fly double pole switch. It has two sep
