P47Tbolt -> Charging VPX batteries (2/11/2008 4:32:42 PM)

I have did a search and have not come up with a definite answer.My question is can I charge
the Black and Decker VPX batteries with a Hobbico Accu-Cycle Elite.The battery package states they are
Lithium Ion batteries.The Elite states it can charge Li-Po or Li-Ion packs.So I should be able to.
Thinking about using these for ignition on a gasser and as receiver packs with 2 switched and 2 packs with
voltage regulators to drop voltage to 6 volts on both sysytems.

They are not the same as Lion/poly charge up to 8.4 and these 7.2v, no regs needed unless you have an ignition that needs 4.8v only

There have been some reports of the 1100 mAh cells failing open. I have not experienced this myself but I have read several such post. The larger 2300 cells fail closed in all reports I have read.

You could use a Daptor and the charger you have.

You could also just monitor the charge and stop it when 2S pack reaches 7.6 volts but once it reaches 7.2 it climbs very fast,depending on the charge rate of course.
