Ok well i have a Emaxx 3905 and soon to be e-revo. my bro has a e savage. So i need a charger that can charge 2 nimh at a time since verytime we play we need 4 charged nimh pcks. However beacause of my soon to be brushless e-revo i want something that is great for nimh but will also take care of my lipo needs once i get there. So if 977 is much better for nimh and good at lipo i would get it. but i was reading the lipo charge rates are slow. So if the 989 is just as good as the 977 for nimh and better at lipo then i think i will get that. But it MUST be able to charge more than 1 nimh pack at a time. What do you guys think?

You're right. The 989 is a better charger and only has one output. The 977 will do a pair of NIMH batts faster than the 989.

Actually, the 977 has dual outputs and a 10 amp power supply. You can charge two batteries at the same time at 5 amps. Also, we can charge 1-8 cells NiCd/NiMH and adjust the current from 0.20 amps up to 5 amps in 0.10 amp increment. It also has adjustable peak detection. We also have a discharge on channel A. The 977 can also charge LiPos at 2.5 amps per channel.
The 989, which is the better charger will charge up to 10 amps, but only has a single output. It can also do 1-8 cells LiPo, 1-25 cells NiCd/NiMH and has 25 battery profiles.

so the 977 can do 2 lipos at a time? is that 2 3s lipos?
then if i need a 4s or 6s i can buy 2 3s or 2 2s and run in series right?

Yes, and Yes.

Running them in series is fine if they are same capacity. If they are going to be used in series then the 989 will also do them if left connected in series.
