Here's what the railing looked like on a Dumas Scarab KV 38 that I used to have.

Hey guys thanks for the help really appreciate it. Got the old paint off and the bottom of the hull wet sanded turned out great, the top deck will require a lot more sanding before i know whether I can save the gelcoat there, it's really rough. Any suggestions on engines and radio controls, and are clutches an option? Thanks appreciate your input, oh and of course the budget is tight still paying for the big toy.

I was unable to save the gelcoat on the hull deck so I regelcoated it after alot of sanding it turned out great a little buffing and i'll be done with the hull till painting the colors and stripes. The bad news is the pair of amps outdrives I bought got lost in the mail, so back to square one if anyone sees any for sale please let me know. I need a pair. also can the rotation on them be changed or do I have to by them left and right.
Thanks Chris

you can take a outdrive and make it counter rotate . but you have to be careful taking them apart . the best way is to heat them up in the oven to break away the glue . DO NOT use plliers to pull it apart .. all you have to do is flip the gear the other way hope this helps

you would have better luck finding the outdrives ,then finding a complete RTR formula . the last one i saw for sale like that was 4 or 5 years ago your where lucky to find that hull you have I still have not completed my hull yet . i still need to install my 4 stroke engine's and electronic .

SWEET, its got the 420 hp 454's it had blowers at some point in it's past  the boost gauges are still there.,and the goal is to put some back on 2-3 years down the road . Luckily the motors and outdrives were just rebuilt right before I bought it in Feb.but being a 28 yr old boat I have a ton of work to do to get it where I want it . My previous boat was a 1985 302 sr1 that I had just finished going over top to bottom,  then I saw the 402 and here we go again   I must be insane.

Oh my god that bites. my girlfriend suggested putting mine on a wall shelf when it's done and jokingly i told her I'd through bolt some 1/2 inch allthread to the outside brick to hold it., starting to revisit that .  good luck with the rebuild.  Mine is progressing good will post pics soon.

Special K   I'll get some pics of the swim platform it's made out of some 3/8 quarter round teak trim I got at west marine and through bolted with #40 brass all thead. I also made the radar arch out of 1/4' marine plastic lumber I got at west marine then cut it  put it in the oven and formed it.  The trailer was pretty easy it's 1' aluminum c channel for the side rails, and 3/4" square tube for the cross rails and 2 3/4 model plane wheels.   aluminum all from home depot.
Those lights are way too big ,  scale should be about 7/8" long  I found a site i'm getting ready to order a bunch of items including the nav lights, deck cleats and a bunch of other items all real close to scale look and size I"ll let you know when i get them in. their website is www.mackproductsrc.com
