Hello All: Thanks for your support and encouragement for this massive undertaking. We have been listening loud and clear, and are finally providing you with the much delayed details for EFX to date. This is of course subject to refinement, but this is where we are at. Special thanks to RCU for supporting this event! Working with the UOP Stadium, NFL Cardinals, Super Bowl, FAA, USAF, AMA, major manufacturers, distributors, media companies and so forth; for the first of a three year event, has been quite the adventure and we are almost there. The Latest Scoop: A 3 Day event April 25-27, 2008. 230,000 sq. ft. dedicated to electric RC, with setup and tryouts (for the Phoenix Cup Airplane Invitational) on April 24th. The number of wildcard slots in the Phoenix Cup is approximately 5. You wanted a fun fly and not just an invitational; so Mr. Electric RC Enthusiast (insert Bud Light commercial here), we are providing you with a flight box, the entire length of the best stadium on the planet, for aircraft at or under 20 ozs. and 40" wingspan and a 2200 mAh (or less) battery. This is for registered pilots operating 72 mHz (even channels only) and 2.4 gHz systems. Did I mention NO registration fee? We would like reserve the right to suggest a donation to a worthy cause, but his is not requried. Register here http://www.efexpo.com/indoorFunFly.aspx quickly for the fun fly and there will be big-air heli demos by world -class pilots for all 3 days. A daily ticket is required ($7.50 for adults, $5 for 6-12 and 5 and under are free). Basically, the stadium is cut in half lengthwise and the bulk of the airspace is dedicated to you. Lots of fun and lots of heli time/airspace with a 240' ceiling height, not including the retractable roof, hmmmmmm. You will be able to fly over the first level of stadium seating (no spectator zone) which is just an enormous amount of airspace. See the video here. The Phoenix Invitational Cup is an indoor invitational competition (2 day event) thanks to our exceptional CD Mr. Steve Rojecki, with major cash prizes (TBA). This separate flight box is 240' x 100' and located under the big Jumbo Tron! Held Friday and Saturday with a major freestyle element. So, if you think "you got game" you'd better show up for the tryouts.....we have our own version of Simon Cowell! See the requirements here Hours Thursday April 24, 2008: (exhibitor setup): 8AM-10PM, Tryouts for the Phoenix Cup 10AM-5PM. Friday April 25, 2008: Show Open 10AM -6PM. Opening ceremonies by the USAF. Exhibitor only fun fly 6PM -9PM;hey we gotta play too instead of working all of the time. Beverage carts on hand. We wanted to thank the companies that embraced this little idea of ours, as many did not. Saturday April 26, 2008: Show open 10AM until 11PM.....(where are the energy drink sponsors?). Competition and fun fly 10AM-6PM. Award ceremony and Saturday night party with a fund raiser in the North Club Lounge 7PM-11PM (live band + dance floor=great videos Jim). We will be honoring some very exclusive individuals that evening and are in need of a flight team to produce a 5 minute routine to music for a night fly and video presentation (email team apps to efexpo@aol.com). Of course, the rest of you are welcome to participate in the night fly (if you are registered) from 7PM until 11ish.....Lee from Castle has 300 lights right? Retractable roof + Lee= Stadium foul :-( Sunday April 27, 2008: Show open 10AM-3PM. Fun fly and Hitec/Multiplex Arcomaster Competition by the world's best pilots (sorry this one is full). All pilots given the same airframe and are set to duke it out for cash! We would like you to know this event is just as much about exposing youth to aviation as it is about enjoying the sport that we love so much. Our first negotiation with the stadium was for 5000 free student tickets. I would challenge each of you to take the time to share our sport with an interested child as I know a number of us wish we would have pursued aviation careers. We are diligently gathering aerospace companies to exhibit career choices to aviation minded kids that need to know about life choices that really do exist. Thankfully we live out that same dream through our sport; let's encourage our youth to pursue their dream in full scale. Other Fun Stuff: RCU Instant replay (over & over & over) on the bigger Jumbo Tron! (Don't mess up and you will avoid excessive embarrassment!) Aero Fly Pro Simulator Competition on the North Jumbo Tron! Nutty fun fly competitions Live camera feed from the show floor and lounge to the Jumbo Tron. Be stupid/have fun. Outdoor instruction and fun fly: If you do not know how to fly, we will have the Hitec Flight School (flight instructors and aircraft courtesy of Hitec), or your aircraft does not meet the 40"/20 ozs. requirement for the indoor element, you will still be able to enjoy the event by registering for the outdoor fun fly here, (limited to 50"/50 oz and electric power plant). Westgate Center: Shopping, food, movies, hotels and nightlife only steps away. All brand new. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Hitec and Thunder Power RC for making this event possible. Please remember these organizations while enjoying this event! This event will be a ton of fun and something that has not been done here in the US before, but we can't do it without you. Great hotel rates coming to the lodging page at www.efexpo.com this week. Thanks for your support. Sincerely, Jack Burnside Director Electric Flight Expo www.efexpo.com
