this is a tuffy....no room to really get on this thing...at first thought drilling it out seemed to be the only thing...but..and I dont know how much clearence is around the head screws...if u can get a 12point socket thats just smaller then the head of the screw tap it on lightly...might have enuff bite to get it out..dont think theres room..other then that all I can think is to drill it out..just looked at mine....I can see the head of the screw through the cooling fins from the side..might be able to hack the head off with a hacksaw blade..will leave somewhat a burr but might be able to tap off the head then remove whats left with visegrips..alls I know is drilling on that broken hex bit tip is gonna be tuff...

what kind of hex tool were you using? a ball point?

Those are common to snap... made for low torque applications.

I learned this the hard way once before... used a old knife and junk screw driver to pop out the end of it.

yess thats the same one im using. The tip broke off and is stuck now

try using a pick from a mechanics pick set to see if you can get it to come loose. it looks something like a dentisits pick.you might be able to get it out or at least loose. i mean the broken allen wrench not the bolt. or try using a big cut off wheel for a dremel and just cut off the head of the bolt. once you get all the cooling head bolts out you can use vise grips to get the broken one out.

I didn't see what motor you had--but---if you look at the side of it--between the head and the block-can you see the head screw?
If so--and on my VX's-you can
Take a hacksaw blade-wrap electric tape around the end-to protect your hand and VERY VERY carefully cut through the head screw
There is space(very little,so that is why you have to go slow) between the end of the screw and the engine case
Anyhow-that's what I would try if I were in your place

Once you get the head off you can try to use needle nose pliers to remove the piece left in the block
If that doesn't work-use a dremel tool with a cutting disk in it and make a slice into the piece and use a regular screwdriver to remove it
good luck
DOUG

One more thing-then I'm gone----if you get almost thru the screw and you;re getting nervous about cutting into the engine--STOP------at that point there will be VERY little holding the screw together---take a drill bit and then try to drill out from the top-that will break in two what is left
Again--just take your time-go very slow doing all of this

just pick away at it. It took me a few days, but I wasn't willing to cut off any part of my engine. If you can find pliers thin enough to fit in there, give it a shot.
