This means, I can cut the bad ESC and try to cure it. I will let you know if I find anything.

hello everyone, just joined. I have a guanli (sorry) a-10. i am an intermediate flyer. i started with the parkzone cessna 210 micro - love it. great for any day flying as long as the wind is below 5 mph (18g plane). i have crashed the a-10 numerouse times - repairs pretty well. i upgraded to a 1100 lipo battery and wow! what a difference. i have had three really successful flights now with two of the landings not so hot. i do have to say i bought it for the looks, but with the battery upgrade, it flies really well. i live in Boulder, CO. even up here it flies well. i think i will try the parkzone t-28 next, then the f-15! boy, i feel the wallet shrinking already

What voltage is the 1100 lipo battery? What is the "C" (discharge) rating and the weight of the battery? What brand? Did you change out the ESC; because the stock ESC does have a very low amperage rating, probably only 10C, which a 1100 mAh LiPO should fry quickly.

What rating are you talking about? I flew stock ESC with 3 LiPo - no problem there. The FETS B414 used in stock ESC is rated 110A (by catalog), BEC is 2940 is rated 1.25A constant and 3.5Amax, and because it is in TO-263-3 case it can handle more power drop than most BEC used in brushless ESC. The only problem I can see in 3s is that motors will not last long. With 8V they take over 8A eachwhat is already quite hot for 370 size motor.

Then you might have very strong thermals in Colorado - 15 minutes of 1250mAh is average 4C discharge = 5A, less then 2.5A for motor (there is something for the radio too). Congratulations. Unless you do a slope soaring you just invented "perpetuum mobile".

lost me with all that jargon. what are you saying? temp is around 75, humidity 15-25%. please explain? First flight was about 5 min. second was two flights, same battery 7:00 pm 70 deg with 20% humidity total of 15 minutes, wind was calm to 3 mph. third flight was 10 minutes and i landed on a bush, lol - broke the tail stabilizer, glued and good to go.

Are we talking about Guanli A-10 EDF twin? This plane stock on the bench took 8.5A for each engine powered by 8V. On the field it hadrly flew with 11V battery (taking around 20A total). I am talking about the current taken from the battery to power both engines (stock brushed 370 size) on Guanli A-10. 1250mAh 10C battery can not handle such load, but even if it could, it should be empty in less than 3 minutes.

Modified for brushless setup Guanli A-10 performs well on 10V 27A (it is 270W !!!).

I agree, no way it should stay up in flight that long, something "fishy" in that claim. Besides, at 11.1v for the battery output, the 8v motors should be leaving a smoke trail after a couple minutes.

Richard,

Did you know about this RC supplier up in Nor Cal - South Bay Area? Has lots of DF supplies, lots of GWS parts, VG prices on NiMH batteries, pre-made packs, props, etc.. BL Motor prices are not that hot, but has a big selection.
