Status: offline 		A few days ago We released our new 35cc Extra 260. Now we would like to let you in on a COMPLETLY new desighn from Aeroworks. Our new 35cc Extra 300 QB! This airplanes flys incredibley well and is THE smoothest plane in its size I have ever flown.

It is the same QB quality you have come to expect from Aeroworks in a smaller more affordable package. It is designed around the 35-45cc size gas engines or large glow engines and includes carbon wing and stab tubes along with the full QB hardware package.

We are very excited to add this new plane to our hanger and hope many of you will add one to yours!

We would like to thank Dave Michael for the use of his scheme.

I have the 90-120 Yak, and am very pleased with it.....this Extra would make a fne addition to the hangar! I really like the scheme on this one!!

Yes we flew it with the 46. The power was great even at this altitude

Status: online 		Would a 50cc be way over kill for this plane? It sure would give a few more options.

Also what do you all think of using a smartfly powersystem in it? Two rx batteries for a little more reassurance. But at the cost of weight.

A 50cc is way overkill on this plane. We recomend against it. A power system of some sort is not needed on this plane since you want to keep it as light as possible.

I'm not familiar enough with the YS to know for sure but I think it would give good sport performance. Balance may be an issue however.

Hi Mark,

** First of all, what a beautiful Extra 300S and it looks so attractive to me. Hope my wife will allow me to add one more great plane from Aero Works...:-). I am actually building the QB Yak54 90-120 size at the moment.

** My new QB Yak54 (72" wing span) will go with YS 160DZ. The dry weight should be between 10.5 to 11 lbs. The thrust of YS 160DZ is about 18-20 lbs depends on nitro%. This combination should give this Yak all the power for 3D. My other YS 160DZ (on Chip Hyde Cap-X) runs @ 9000 with APC 18x8W. I am still set a little rich at 1 and 3/4 turn out at HS setting because I do not want to go over 9000.

** I am still search for a better prop than APC 18x8W to allow me lean it a bit more to get the full potential out from this super engine. I prefer set the top end RPM somewhere around 8600. I did tried APC 19x8W and got 8100 and I was told it would put too much load on 160DZ if I do 3D with this setting.

** Raw Powerwise, YS 170DZ is about only 3-4% (which is about 200 more RPM for the same prop) but most of improvement is the mid range torque.

** I flew DP Ultimate with 160DZ (dry weight around 12 lbs) and she performed quite well in 3D flying. My Cap-X also has 160DZ as power source but the dry weight is 14.25 lbs because I have to add 9 oz lead and 2nd battery (another 4.5 oz) at nose to balance the CG........it is really a ouch for me...:-). The Cap-X can do quite a few 3D manuvers but she gets out of hovering with much less authority than what I prefer and the reserve power is limited.

** However, I think YS 170DZ together with this pretty QB extra will make her a good but probably not wildly great 3D performer. It should still be better in 3D than my Cap-X because larger wing area @ 1200 sq inch vs 1050 sq inch of Cap-X assuming with same dry weight (14.25 lbs).

If it could be built less than 14 lbs., then I might have to consider it since these new Aeroworks 35cc models are great looking and are not too large to transport with my car.

Hi Frank,

There is one modification you can do to avoid adding too much lead up front at nose. You can use a powerful single servo (Futaba S9156, JR8611/8711, or Hitec 5955) and doing a pull-pull elevator setup in the mid section.

This will take out about 4.5oz of tail weight which should save you 8-10 oz of extra lead in the nose. You should be able to achieve close to 14lbs doing it this way I think.

If I have time I may give a try on my Cap-X after finishing building the QB Yak 54.

Status: offline 		This 35cc version of the Extra 300 is going to be a real hit. You can see that it will give great performances and be easily transported. It's a 'TWEENER'. It falls somewhere between the big glow engines and the 50cc gas engines. I wonder about using a 3w 28i on the Aeroworks 35cc plane... Or, maybe the new Saito 2.20 4-Stroke-
