Hi,

Ive wrecked 1 body shell already, bad cutting around the arch, anyways, was just curious, what kind of scissors or blades do you use? Any special kind that are made to cut through this carbon like body shells with ease?

You can get curved lexan scissors that work a treat - but in my opinion the very best thing for wheel arches is a dremel with a circular grinding atachment.

I use cutter in combination with those curved scissors. I mainly use the cutter for most of the work. I use cutter and cut one to two inches horizontally, when I have done that I take the scissor and cut vertically at the end points of where I used the cutter, then I bend the plastic part slightly back and forth until it deataches from the body. Repeat this for the entire body.

I've read somewhere that a compass cutter works pretty well with cutting out circles for lexan body shells.

I'll make it sound and look and do as simple as I describe it. Just like you break peices from a bar of chocolate, cutting lexan bodies is just as simple. What you need is a sharp hobby knife. Small blade. Simply run it along the lines you need to cut and then bend the body like you would break a peice of chocolate. Once it tears, simply pull the torn part along the line you've cut and it will tear like paper. I can post all my bodies to show you that just a hobby knife is enough to do the trick. You just need to cut along the lilnes neatly with a firm grip.

Next, if you have trouble cutting circles, its easy too. Follow the above procedure along the line and then once you've removed the excess body, buff the edges with a small sanding drill and smoothen out the edges.

Perform the rough cuts with scrissors or some sort of trimmer. Use a paper towell roll covered in 80-100 grit sandpaper to clean it up and round the lines.

Go to your local hobby shop and purchase a lexan scissors. Then take your time as you trim around the body lines......................

like one of the above posters, i think that buying lexan scissors and dremels are overkill.
yes, they are nice to have but not necessary.

i used a plain old hobby knife.
i go in .5 inch sections. scoring lightly. i score it 3-4 times.
by the 5th score, it cleanly pops thru the lexan

i do it in the living room while watching tv. easy to do and saves a bunch of money.

(granted, if i owned a dremel, id use that!!)

Yeah dremels are sweet, I have a Hardshell Cuda Which i used a Dremel bit that looks like a Circular saw blade attached to the end but @ 90 degrees. Just be careful not to slip else you could rip into your Finger,,,,,,Deep too. trust that.

One thing while useing this bit, because it's at 90 degrees, Instead of the Pulling motion used with the exacto blade. Kind of hard to do nice ovals but this is what i do. instead of pulling a arch do it like this, Go to shake someones hand(Just the motion not actually), Now close your finger in close to your hand, Now move your wrist left, then right. See the Natural TRUE Curve. I've found useing any 90 degree bits works really well at giving Natural curves, instead of pulling a straight line into a curve if you know what i mean. Hope this helps.
