Those hinges look a litle small for a 1/4 scale plane. I would go with the two servo setup for your flaps. It is more scale. The full scale has a slip plate between the inner and middle flap. The outer flap is actuated by a seperate rod, though it is joined to the same mechanism as the inner actuator rod. If you are having seperating wings then two servos is the scale way to go. You could do it like the full scale and have the one servo in the wing and have two control rods from it. One going to the outer edge of the center flap permanently fixed and one going to the inner edge of the outer flap which you would connect when fitting the outer wing panel. It works well and I have seen it done on a byron Corsair to good effect. For simplicity I would use two servos. Your own original idea seems sound to me. By the way, if you use Hitec digitals then you can program every servo to match up exactly with no programming on your transmitter. All four flap servos would be on one channel with no matchboxes. There is no need for matchboxes with hitec digitals. It has saved me a bunch. Barry, It is good that you are looking at others experience a little more now but don't get led down the primrose path. above are my ideas, they work but are my preferences. Vern is very experienced and he has his preferences. Neither of us is infallible. You are not an idiot so just use your head and keep going, don't let this turn into a build by committee. From past experience in full scale and model designing, design by committee is rarely successfull. Good Luck Paul

Guy's,
I am building this Corsair the way that I feel it's best. I am just picking your minds and absorbing experience from Giant model builders IE: All of you. I'm not going to let this become a community build. I just appreciate your input and interest with my project. Actually I was going with the 2 flap servo set-up per side just because I like it better. I was looking at the spec's on the Hitec 5955TG servos and they said they were programable with a seperate device. When I looked it up it has been discontinued at Tower. Is it still available somewhere else? I am working on my cowl flaps today and boy it is time consuming and tedious with all the tiny screws. I know they will hold but epoxy would of been so much easier if it would hold. After rack said he didn't think they would I needed to move a hinge and it just snapped off in my fingers.

Winston,
Thanks for the heads up about the same servos and the programmer being sold thru Troy Models. I'm going to be sending everything back to Tower anyway but now I can get them with the programmer so I won't need as many channels and their cheaper thru Troy Built Models by $15.00. That will add up. $15.00 times 9 will save me $135.00. More than the price of one servo or almost the price of the programmer.
Rack,
The only way I would do it is if you wanted to get all the parts from me and build the whole center section. I don't trust it getting there without any damage. Then I could just pick it up from you in Illinois when your done. Think about it. I've got 3 sets of plans so I won't need one set. I don't think you want to take on this one.
I am working on the cowl flaps and also have all the rough framing done on the wing tip panel except for gluing in the sleeve for the wing tube. Now it's time to start on the second wing tip panel and finish the cowl flaps.

Graham just e-mailed me with a couple pictures of the 2 canopies he is making for me. He still has to add the rivets but then he will ship them to me. Here they are. I love them. Their all ready to be made into a sliding canopy. The second one is if I mess up the first one or iff I build another 1/4 scale Corsair when I finish this one.
