Barry,

Your corsair really looks great. I am picking up alot good ideas from your thread and will be applying some to my plane once I get back to it.

Thanks for the compliment David. Rack, here are a couple close ups of the canopy. I think there stampted but then on some they look real. Which ever they are they are cool and the canopies look great. Thanks Graham!!! Anyway I moved both of the rear slide rails down for this canopy and it looks much better. Also I finished with my plug wires and painted the engine the final color. Now I just need to paint the spark plugs white and the caps red or orange.

Gibbs

rack, my camera is cheap and dosen't make a clear close up so this is the best I can do with it.

After getting my documentation papers back from staples and having them blown up 200% it was obvious that the bump just behind the pilots head on the cockpits rear bulkhead was curved and not tall enough. I have been working on that all day and just finished applying a thin coat of putty to make the higher bump smooth. It is also supposed to be a straight line from where it starts to rise to the end. My previous one had a curve to it so it looks awful. I painted my spark plugs today but missed some spots and when I took the picture to post it I noticed them. The paint is put away so I'll fix it when I paint the red leads.

Harley,

That thing is soooo fassst that I didn't even see it. Boy I bet your proud. What engine do you have in it? Are those CJ retracts? I finished my engine all but the decal. Here it is. Now back to building and stop tinkering. Every once in awhile I just need a break and when I do I tinker with details.

So far not even figuring in the plane the engine weighs 10lbs. 7oz., the dummy radial 1lb. 9oz., and the adapter and Solo prop weighs 2lbs. 8oz. for a grand total of 14lbs. 8oz. I don't think Ill be needing any nose weight. If anything maybe a little tail weight. Now much will the plane with everything weigh finished????]

Today I worked on the modification to make it look like a F4U-7 instead of a F4U-1 thru 4. Part of this process is the raise fuselage part that was added onto the French Navy Corsairs to increase headroom so the pilots could sit higher in their seats and see over the long nose easier. I made a fiberglass mold today to simulate an add on instead of just making it out of balsa and forgeting about the lip that showed it was added as seen in the first picture. I still have a tiny amount of sanding when I take off the glass so it will be semetrically even on both sides and a straight slope up to the peak. I posted the wrong picture so here it goes again. Maybe in the last two you will see what I'm going for.

Harley,

Would you be so kind as to post some pictures of your Corsair. I am particularly interested in the quality of the main gear.

Thanks,
dlj

I cut out the part of the fiberglass that I needed and put a couple coats of my acetone/Bondo spot and glazing putty on it to fill the weave. Next I'll sand and prime it so it's ready to put on when I glass the fuselage. Then Ill epoxy the part I made in place so there is the lip.

Here is the part I made after sanding and priming. I'll test fit the part tomorrow when the primer is good and dry.
