The Mardi Gras Spring Warbird race is next month. Mardi Gras flyer

Please read the NOTE:

We allow people to request a second class entry. On this request, they declare the engine quantity on the plane they want to fly in the second class and the distance they traveled to get to the race.

If the matrix will have open slots (pilot quantity not divisible by 4), we enter planes in the following priority sequence:

1. Multi-engine quantity
2. Whoever traveled the most miles to get to the race

We would then collect the additional class entry fee. On average, there would be 1.5 additional entries per class.

We have airframe/engine restrictions that make it difficult to break out in Gold. 1:30 is going pretty fast. The only one to do it was T.P. flying the infamous Cub with a Nelson. And it was by less than 1 second.

We want to keep this fun and not get into the big money speed creep game.

Also, the AMA might not let us take the speed limit off.

Ok, that explains some of it. I just remember when the breakouts were first being used, and seeing guys flying extra long at the pylons to keep from breaking out. It kind of defeated the purpose of a breakout to limit speeds, since the planes weren't any slower (and were probably actually going faster due to the longer straights they were flying). If the airframe/engine restrictions are working it should be better, although it then brings up the question as to whether the breakout is needed? Leave it to the AMA to impose something that's really doesn't solve the issue.
