Hi

I have received PN 58318 interface cable from OMP to use with my JR X9303 TX. This cable is the one listed on OMP site to allow connection of JR radios.

Game commander functions, and AFPD works as it should with the game commander. My system recognizes dongle cable, and cable turns on transmitter. I find no evidence that the software recognizes the transmitter.

This is a HP laptop, with a touchpad and three usb inputs.

Any thoughts on how to proceed would be appreciated.

Kevin

Version 1.8.0.21
Serial F894b7d2

I have an X9303 and a HP laptop also........I just received a new (replacement) dongle and it works fine.

I had no end of problems with my previous dongle whether I used it with an 8103 or the DX7 I used before I got my X9303.

It could be the dongle. On the other hand, it just may be having a compatibility problem with your computer.

Mine has the AMD processor and Nvidia video and is running Vista Home Premium. This is the best AFPD has worked since I got it 3 or so years ago.

Hi Kevin, do you have the game commander or interface cable version? Can you post a photo, or provide a web link, of item 58318? Thanks

Rajul,

http://www.aerofly-pro.com/purchase/ This is where the OMP page leads showing the details. Is marked as simcom cable here.

If one scrolls down it is near the bottom of the page. Quick description is a usb blue dongle with a mini pin plug (fits the radio) and an adapter for hitec. Since the packaging was listed as hitec I was concerned I had the wrong part. (it happens!!!)

The sim works fine at about 100fps with the game commander. Drivers are slim for this laptop, but I have had no past issues, and are updated as much as I have been able to find on hp's site. Thanks for the help!

Kevin

zeuglodon,

I have been running the sim for about say 2 years now with no issues, first time I have tried to hook it up to a tx. I might try the older jr tx I have around here to see if they work, never really thought of it till now.

This system is intel and not a high dollar laptop, perhaps I have not taxed it until the usb dongle.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Kevin

Hi Kevin, the simcom cable is basically a slave or dummy usb cable. You will have to plug both the GC and the simcom into separate usb ports.

Keep in mind that the patch 1.8.0.25 (or later version) is mandatory for the USB Slave Cable/GameCommander to work. I assume you do not have any addons, so pls install patch 1.8.0.25 from http://www.aerofly.com/www/downloads.html Here is the set up procedure:

1. Start AFPD with only the original USB Interface Cable or USB Game Commander connected. If the USB Interface Cable is connected without a transmitter you will get a message saying that no Tx was detected - Click OK
2. Connect the USB Slave Cable or Dummy Game Commander to a free USB port, wait a few seconds and then click on “Calibrate”.
3. In the “Input Device” window click on “Refresh”. You will then see “USB Dummy Intf #0" or “USB Dummy GC #0” - highlight this and click on “Properties”.
4. Calibrate as you would with any controller (see manual).
5. Click on “Controls”. At the bottom of the window click on “New”.
6. On the left lower section of the window click on the circle displayed at the “USB Interface/Game Commander #2”.
7. Proceed with the “Channel Assignment” - Click OK when finished.
8. At the “Aircraft Control Settings” window you will see “New USB/Interface/GC #2” - Assign to Aircraft 1 or 2 and click OK
9. You are now ready to fly.

Hey Mike!

Upgraded to 1.8.0.25 with no issues.

1. Start AFPD with only the original USB Interface Cable or USB Game Commander connected. If the USB Interface Cable is connected without a transmitter you will get a message saying that no Tx was detected - Click OK

This is as it should be, no issues.

2. Connect the USB Slave Cable or Dummy Game Commander to a free USB port, wait a few seconds and then click on “Calibrate”.

No other devices show in window except the game commander.

3. In the “Input Device” window click on “Refresh”. You will then see “USB Dummy Intf #0" or “USB Dummy GC #0” - highlight this and click on “Properties”.

No Device shows.

4. Calibrate as you would with any controller (see manual).

Nothing to calibrate.

The general operation is as follows:

Startup of software with the game commander connected.
Software operates fully as it should, no issues.

Plug in usb interface cable (with game commander connected)
dongle steady light

add transmitter, light blinks fast.

turn on tx light goes out.

We are gaining!!
Thanks Mike!

Kevin

Hi Kevin, although the 2.4 radio is DSM (not PCM or PPM), the signal from the trainer port is tapped before any modulation is applied and is PPM compatible, and therefore works with AFPD. There is nothing to set in the radio, but a stereo-to-mono adapter cable is required. Leave the 2.4 radio switched off before plugging in the adapter cable. The radio will automatically switch on when the adapter cable is plugged into the radio. The radio will not work with AFPD if it is manually switched on before inserting the adapter cable.

On the simcom cable, we do not support it and you will have to check with your supplier on its setup. The instructions I gave you above applies to the Ikarus usb slave interface cable.

Thanks Mike!

I attempted to use a JR 6102 on ppm following same instructions, with the same issues. Please direct me to a cable system that you support that hopefully supports the x9303 and the 6102 so I may purchase that one and proceed.

Your assistance is much appreciated.

Kevin
