Hey guys.. thinking of picking up a fusion and was wondering about the landing gear. .On my Katana, I installed tetherite gear as the factory gear flexed and bent.. How is the factory gear on the fusion? Is the base wide enough to drill another hole for wheel pants?

You're asking about the Fusion 90, right?

A friend used the glass tetherite gear and it was too flexy. He needed to brace it with a wire.

I use the Jeff Williams gear on mine and it works great. I have 2 sets -- one with pants for the "muddy season." I don't intall pants the way you describe. Instead I use Sullivan mounts which allow the pants to twist if I bump them:

Dubro makes a similar setup that is easier to install and works like a wheel collar, but it's heavier and mounts outside the pant. The Sullivan one is easily glassed to the inside.

Not sure if these are the same set I have:

Jeff may have changed the mold, or offer a different set now, but the ones listed say they're good for a 5.5 lb plane. My fusion weighs 7lbs 4 oz.

You want the small or 40 sized Tetherite gear for the 52"Fusion. What I tell folks is fly the plane with the stock gear and if you wear it out by landing hard and bending it a lot then you can replace it with the tetherite.
