I fly a full scale clipped wing taylorcraft and am building a model of it from a Lanier 1/4 scale kit. I want to power it with a 4 stroke twin but have only run large gas engines and YS 4 strokes. My last 1/4 scale Tcraft was 14 pounds with a Zenoah G23. I think this one will be at least a pound lighter due to the lighter engine and no ballast needed. Anyone with experience with the Saito 1.82 or OS 1.60? Whick would be better? Check the photo of my real one!

From observing others running both engines, my impression is that the Saito is considerably more powerfull, but the OS is easier to set-up and more user friendly.

Go with the OS 160 - it's truly a beauty of an engine. My favorite BY FAR (currently have Super Tigre's, Webras, OS 2 and 4 strokes, YS 4 strokes, and an AP 09). This was my 2nd 4 stroke after my OS 52 and this engine is VERY user friendly and VERY reliable.

I run an on-board glow system, about 50% and 50% don't. Mine is mounted on a 1/4 scale super cub (see pic right before I mounted the engine). I'd show you one with the engine, but I don't have those pics on this computer right now.

Should be great for your T-Craft as the planes are about the same size/weight. I run a MA wood 18 x 6 - 10 prop - I don't remember the RPM numbers off the top of my head, but I want to say around 6,400? Plenty of power for the Super Cub.

OHHH and the best part - the sound of a 2-cyl engine. Some people at my club (even electric guys) say they want to buy the engine just to run it on the bench and listen...

And there's only 1 carb to adjust!

Good luck!
