I'm planning to install two 7.2V 5000 mAh batteries (each is a 6 cell battery) into my RC and wire them in parallel, essentially giving myself a single 7.2V 10,000 mAh battery for very long run times. But before I do, I want to make sure that I get the right charger. I really like the Super Brain 977's ability to charge two batteries at a time (could do two sets at once), but I noticed that it's rated capacity is 8000 mAh batteries. Does that mean that I would need to step up to the 989 to charge this setup?

Thanks.

Did you want to charge them individually as 5000 mah, or charge two sets in parallel as 2-10000 mah?

They would charge in parallel. Attached is a wiring diagram that someone else did with smaller (lower capacity) batteries, but that I plan to copy.

You're pretty much just showing me the arrangement of the batteries, right? Or is this the exact circuit you'll be using?

That's the circuit that I'll be using. The only thing it doesn't show is the wiring from the control board to the various components (motors and LEDs). The batteries will be laid physically next to each other...but, that's only a function of the available space. I do plan to follow the circuit diagram and join their positive and negative leads just like is shown in the diagram.

Will the batteries be removed from the circuit in order to charge them? You can do it, it's just going to take along time to charge them.

No, the batteries will be left inside of the vehicle. They'll be charged in parallel via the single charge jack mounted to the vehicle. The idea is to be able to charge them without having to remove them from the vehicle.

It should be alright then, just be careful not to overheat the batteries.

The two 5000 mAh batteries in parallel would like one 10,000 mAh battery, I think. The 977 charger literature says that it only supports 8000 mAh batteries. If it will work to charge the 10,000 battery, what does the rating mean? Does it have a timer that shuts down the charger after certain time? Would I have to restart the timer to get last 2000 mAh to "top off" the batteries?

I'm glad to hear that it will work. Just a little confused by what the rating means.

Thanks.

You may have to hit it twice to get a full charge. Otherwise, the mah screen will roll over after 8000mah.
