Status: online 		For anyone but CP, Fast & Final maidens might not work,
but given the speed that CP builds planes, and the speed he flies them, it could work out for him.
Each weekend he could show up with a crate of 20 fuzes & 25 wings, who cares how many make it back home if they fly fast enough.


Oh, now that SR77 is here,
CP could consider a Mid-Engine & Shaft layout to help with balanceing his TwinFever,
aint that right SR?

Status: offline 		Progress has ground to a halt while I scrape off some uncured resin. Working with small batches and not being real carefull with mixing ratio and mixing technique probably are the main causes. Anyway, I've been working with a single edge razor and scraping the goo from some spots. Once the top side is all glassed, then the under belly can be worked on and this sucker won't be that far from being RTF.

I think you should try it now, and if it works okay, you know it will fly even better once you cover the outer panels. Might save you some time..?

Why not?
That amount of wing area worked ok for the F104 Manned Missile, right?
I think you actually have more than the Starfighter area without the pannels

Besides, with the Duct Tape cover he was using in the other pic, the rest of cover job wont take long.

Has this thing flown yet? you get a lurker all excited and then leave them out in the cold, hanging for info.

My name is Tim, by the way. You are a great builder. I haven't built in a couple of years but I just bought RD's SureShark to get me back into the little planes. That's how I started many years ago.

Would love to get an update on the TWIN.

Status: offline 		Hi Tim, thanks for the compliment...but I'm not a great builder, I just do a great deal of building.
Look up Tom Dixon, Windy Urtnowski, Phil Granderson, Bob Hunt, Paul Walker, Dan Rutherford, Howard Rush........for guys who not only build pretty but very light. In the pylon and pattern arenas there are dozens of others who are masters at the craft. Comp 3D has its' own budding crop of geniuses. Most of the excellence in this functional art is competition driven......for those who down grade competition, they have that to thank for the excellent array of sport models to choose from that use advanced techniques and design wisdom..

Anyway, the twin is getting the same treatment on the bottom side that it did on top. I need to sand the fillets and apply at least one primer coat of epoxy, then glass the bottom and bring it up to the same level of "doneness" that the top side is at. Then the whole works will get treated to a nice coat of 2 part primer, more sanding, more primer, then top coat the whole enchilada with flat black Klasskote. Whew!

Status: offline 		Thanks, RD. If this one flys half way decently, I'm tempted to slice it up so that tracings can be taken off the chunks to make formers for a 100% balsa plane. This style of construction is too time consuming and heavy.

Status: offline 		I hate to spoil the looks of it, but it might not be easy to fly with the "CIA" paint scheme . There was a sketch of a Airforce version, not as cool but practical. I think white on black could be treacherous too. Another problem is I'm used to having the highlights on top which ruins the looks even more. I'm going to trade noted with Funkworks in the speed forum and see what he did on his.

Heh heh.. at least some day-glo or white panels on the vertical stabs and something underneath! Way cool CP!

I was thinking about 1/2A's and pitch speed and picked up a couple of MA 5.5x4.5, so's I can trim them down to 4.something and check them out as candidates for small zippy 1/2A models. Not sure they'd do better than a 4.2x4 APC though.

Black and white should work well, it's been used for rockets punching through clouds, and should do the same for that cooool looking jet you have there.

That sketch shows something on the back of the bird, any info on that?
