yer they are an awesome model mate, and the saito 82 is a superb engine to fit, the power is insane on this model, I have had a few flights and all is ok, no problems, will hopefully fly it again at the weekend

I think you're going to find anyone who's ever flown or even seen a Chinn Yak fly will stand up and salute Jeremy Chinn on this most excellent design. It's simply the most capable 3D ship available. Were you paying attention during Graham's video?

Anytime you can use a Saito .82 on a 4.5 lb bird and have this degree of control, you're 9/10 the way to heaven.

I want one of these. Are they a proven flyer? How do they hold up with a Saito 82 on them?

Go to You tube or see the links above- Yes it is a proven flyer.
Saito 82 is perfect.
I have an old video of one of my old kits, I'll try to get it posted here.

Maiden today!!!! Flew the EF 74" yak, have the 88" ready to go...and the Chinn Yak Billy Hell scheme took to the skies today. Add me to the list of WOW members for this plane!!! I have the OS 55Ax on it wicked power, spektrum set-up with servos and all, with a 1100 A123 pack. It needed ZERO trim, knife edge was perfect, CG 5.25 as recommended. On the second flight I was hovering down low and in my face. I LOVE THIS PLANE!!! I LOVE EXTREME FLIGHT!!!

Very proven. Likely the most agile 40 size profile ever. Saito 72 or 82 is perfect for a 4 stroke.

Razorback58 had a Saito 91 in his blue and white Chinn Yakk.

I've also seen a post or two of the CG coming in a little AFT of where some folks are comfortable. I wonder if the 91 would help that a bit?

Fine. It seems that back when Jeremy designed this, the 50SX was the big dog of the two stroke world. OS 50 or 55, Webra 50 or 55, anything stronger than a 40FX, pretty much.

Go for it, and maybe a 12x4 or 13x4 prop???

13x6 Vess is the most I have run on my 55 ax. It does good for the windy days, seems to have more bite.

Well I ordered the yak. If I can get it to come in between 5 and 5 1/2 lbs (hopefully less than 5 1/2) I think it should be good to go. How many oz. fuel tank does it come with?

They are coming in pretty light...I think you'll be closer to 4 or 4.25lbs than 5.

2 washers is about 2 degrees, and pretty customary. I prefer one washer, however. You can also buy thrust offset plates from OMP that accomplish the same thing, but provide a more consistent mounting surface.

Has anyone used the OS 70 Ultimate on this plane? It looks like it's the same weight as the Saito 82 plus it's pumped.

I think you'll find it's laking power comared to the 82 but this is just a guess. I have no experience with the OS. Try it and let us know!
