Here's a pic or two of my Minnie Mambo that I just finished from an Early RC kit. I must say that the Early RC kits are very nice, the laser cutting and wood selection is excellent, plans are clear and concise, and instructions are easily read and understood. My wife got the Mambo and a Schoolboy for my Christmas present, and I noticed on the invoice that someone had hand written a message of thanks and "Merry Christmas" at the bottom..that was cool!!
Anyway, she's covered in cream and metallic blue Monokote, has a TT07 for power, 2 HS55s on the rudder and elevator and a tiny Dymond micro on the throttle, a mini RX and a 250mah flight pack, all up weight is just shy of 18 ozs. Only thing I did different from the plans is to make the elevator a touch wider and I used an old Hallco landing gear that I had in stock instead of the kit-provided one. Test flights soon..

Thanks for the kind comment guys, I really appreciate it. One other thing I forgot to mention is that the vertical fin is butt glued direct to the top sheeting, that kinda bugged me a bit, so I used 3/32 square at the joint to make it a bit more solid.
I'm HOPING to fly it this Sunday, depends on the weather and whether or not I can get a pass from the commander. WORNBOOTS, if I can fly this Sunday I'll let ya know, we can maiden the Mambo then you can watch the electric HE219 performance test vs my electric Macchi 202....

That's a real pretty "Minnie".
I have a couple and you should love it with that 07 up front.

Good luck with it and Good Flying.

Peace

Nice job on a classy oldy. I love the looks of the MM's. There's that elusive "toy" look to them that makes them so cute that you can't help but smile. And then when they fly up a storm it's even better.

Best of luck with the test flights.

Boots, The Schoolboy goes together so fast that
cash will be able to type and take photos with one
hand while building with the other. I built mine on
the way to the house from the mailbox. lovely
kits and good wood.

Quick debrief..I had too much rudder, and it needs a touch more downthrust, but in my opinion this thing is GREAT! Really takes me back to my earler days in RC with 2 channels and a reed valve Cox, but with more power and a lighter wing loading plus a decent throttle. Only caveat is do NOT force it into a flat spin, it takes a bit to recover..
I have a bad habit of wringing out planes on the maiden, it almost bit me today, but the Mambo and I survived. I'm going to fly it with about 2 degrees of downthrust and about 60 percent of my rudder throws, and this plane will probably be my goto sport plane for some time to come. Oh yeah, one more thing..I didn't get a tach on it, but the TT.07 was swinging a Graupner 6-4 with authority, plenty of power, good midrange and idle..works for me!!

I did not want to spill the beans before you had a chance to post a Maiden Report, but I enjoyed that little thing scooting around.
Those colors also stayed pretty visable with minimal gray-out effect, You did a great job !!
How long did you stay after the heats ? did you get another flight in? Remember this sat eve or next saturday........................Dan

Nah, I didn't mention in the debrief that the fuel line developed a split at the tank just after the first flight, so I pulled the battery, foam, rx and tank out to air dry the inside..the foam caught
