Tanks, Schmanks! Tonight the US Navy shot down a defunct satellite over the Pacific. Don't all the details or which ship made the shot but hats off to our Sailors!

Ohh, it has something to do with tanks, they were aiming for the fuel "tank" on the satellite.

I never doubted it, we can do anything if we're determined enough. We would have had this capability a lot sooner had 41 not lost his second term election.

It most likely was but they said because of the deadly fuel aboard and also top secret (whatever) they wanted to destroy it while still in space.I'm sure most countrys would like to protect all there technoligy in a simular sittuation. BIGMIG

Yea, them swabbies done good, but then again, the Navy's been punchin' holes in things more than 131 miles away for a long long time. Now THEY have some toys to play with!

Sheesh ---you'd think a satellite with such sensitive/hazardous material on board would have a remotely-triggered "destruction device" built right in -- kinda like the "range safety package" on a missile. But I guess a "Shoot Down" was much more Spectacular.....

The shoot had two goals. One is political to send a message to our enemies about our capabilities. 2nd, even though the satellite probably had self-destruct charges, it may not have had them in the fuel tank area, probably just where the electronics were.

Since I was old enough to pay taxes every year I write on my IRS form that all of my tax dollars are to go to the US Navy! Shoot another one, at a RED satellite this time!
