At some point I want to make an anti-tank gun so the super-light setting would be cool...

OK! I just placed my pre-order for 2 of the new DBC RC2HL.

Darkith, what are the details on the sound chip option? What do I need to order and do they come with the sounds loaded or do I need to program them or something?

Darkith, would I be correct in assuming that the new DBC RC2HL will also work with the original 27mhz HL tranny/rec as well.

@Dugster,
The DBC-RC2HL outputs 3 sound "triggers". A sound card has 2 sound slots. You can hookup the triggers to the sound card in whatever configuration you want, but there''s probably three main configs:
1. Hit & Destroyed sounds. Either use stock HL shooting sound with recoil, or disable recoil and no firing sound.
2. Hit sound & fire sound. Uses same sound for Hit & Destroyed. Need to disable recoil to disable stock sound.
3. Use 2 sound cards for all three sounds. Need to disable recoil to disable stock sound.

The sound cards have a built in mic for recording. Just hookup 5-6V (a RC RX battery works fine), hold it next to a decent computer speaker, press record and play the sound. You can see the recording process near the beginning of the DBC-HL sound instructions here: http://darkith.dyndns.org/~darkith/html/dbc_snd.shtml

@temejin,
Nope, the DBC-RC2HL *only* works with RC transmitters. If you want to use the Heng Long TX, you want the DBC-HL (the original DBC).

Cheers,
David

OK I placed my order

Darkith.

Can the extra light plug on the Heng long board(Newer RX 13) be used to supply power to this Board?

David, can I solder a simple mini jack and remove teh mic from the extenral mic from teh sound card to tryto get a cleaner recorded sound form the computer instead? This will remove the ''dork'' sound of the record button being let go.

YHR

I tried using that extra port to power a power amplifier that uses very litltle amps and the board could not that the draw. When I flip the switch if would seem tahtthere was not enuff power to run the board and i could not turn on my HL tank. Maybe you will have better luck withit.

Dugster,

Davids sound cards come loaded with the destroy or kill sound, you can load your own cannon and hit sound! The sound cards from RCtankwars.com that are ordered pre-loaded come with the destroy sound and the cannon blast and one of three custom hit sounds! See video bleow for two of the sound offerings, the third sound is a whistle blast simular to Tamiya,, not heard on the video!

@YHR,
The DBC-RC2HL has an onboard voltage regulator fed from the 3-wire Heng Long cable, so no need to tap power from the board. You''ll still need to solder on a connector if you want to hookup a sound card though.

@Planedev,
I don''t see why not. You''d want to be careful not to fry the mic or PCB, but it sounds doable. Keep in mind that the Heng Long sound system isn''t exactly hi-fi, so a little bit of noise (which you''ll may hear with the speaker directly connected) is probably going to be drown out by the sound system and engine noise.

@blitzkrieg,
The soundcards I ship *don''t* come pre-recorded. It''s pretty simple to record them though, and it''s pretty neat to be able to customize the sound. I think it was YHR that had a tank play "Taps" when it died.

Cheers,
D.

Oh David thats right you have it programmed so the engine die sound goes off when the unit dies, is that it?

The sound cards I got from David play some chinese songs and I had to record my own sounds in. Anyway I am not so much interested as making the ''Dork'' sound go away but more interested in getting a better quality sound in to teh sound card, will test to see if I can get it done and reportteh results if I do getto it.

I can also find these same sound cards locally, only problem is that I do not know how much they cost and will see if they are cheaper here or not.

Chinese music eh? Probably a sound test done in whatever factory makes em.
I wouldn''t be surprised if you can get them cheaper. I end up having to pay to ship them to me, plus customs/duty, plus the extra cost to ship them to the end user. You''d be skipping one shipping cost and the tax/duty cost.

Btw, if you''re pre-ordering to get the special price, don''t forget to add the S&H costs!

Cheers,
D.
