The problem with the Aluminium parts are they are nearly twice the weight as the plastic, but they do look good!

For a regular touring car aluminum uprights really aren't necessary. I've had some pretty hard crashes on track and haven't broken any uprights or arms. You would have to have a really high speed impact to break the arms. The other thing to consider with allow suspension pieces is that you strenghten one area to weaken another. The alloy doesn't have the give of plastic, you may not break the arm but you will probably break what its attached too.

That mamba 7700 is looking nice, I expect I may have to gear pretty low to prevent melting something. Castle has 25% on their site through March, so that makes it cost about $190 on there. Anywhere cheaper to get it? Still not sure if I want to spend all that money yet but I bet my 19t gets boring pretty quick!

yeah I agree. that's why I was unsure. they went for about $80 on tower, but at my LHS, they were offering them for $40. I decided not to pick them up. thanks for the input

Lets say I run the 7700 on the TA-05, anyone have any clue how many amps I will be pulling on the stock gearing? Or more importantly, are there gears available for the TA that will allow me to run hard without getting too hot? The 7700 seems like a pretty hot motor, don't wanna melt a speedo or anything.

you could easily get some 64dp gearing, loads of spurs and pinions available on rcmart.

i posted a gear ratio chart in one of the other pages

In the finals last night;

1st - a really nice racing chassis with a Team checkpoint 9 turn motor.
2nd - ME !!! with my nearly standard TA-05 and 19T motor
3rd - Serpent s400 with Novak 10.5 b/l --- He was not happy.
4th - an extremely modded TA-05, with 17T motor (i think) it has pretty much every hop-up going.

Me and my mate with the serpent both had 28 laps, but because i did them in 5 mins and 1.8 seconds, and he did his in 5 mins and 12ish seconds, i won
